As I recall it is possible to get a room in Summerhaven.
Not in the middle of the night, though. There are no general hotels, just a room or two available from folks that live there.

There is an AM SPOT point there for Chad so I think he's likely moving? Wonder if he doesn't have it in tracking again...
Yep, look a few posts up ... he's in OK mode.

Blasted! Whatever will I do today if I can't watch Chad's dot? I'll have to think about how cold it's going to be and stuff.

Right, while he's out there getting torched by the sun... it's already 75 in town!

Yea that might be the saving grace of "our" current forecast. Survive until Oracle and actually have a not smoking hot last stretch. It was already 58 at my house in CO today at 9:15.

Yep. I thought I told him enough about how to get it to TRACK instead of OK, but, hey the guy is more concerned with riding, know what I mean? I just got back from a spin and I can confirm it's toasty out there. OK if you're moving, but on a climb or, heaven forbid, a hike-a-bike, it's HOT. Chad will be at Tucson elevation and even lower later today... (ignore the angry, just look at the fire)

Yeah well I'll be saying the same thing if your dots don't come up either! Speaking of which, will anyone be posting updates on the AZT 300 thread like Scott has done here? Or will we just have SPOT info? I'll still be there, cheering everyone on and posting theories based on dots on a map. Back to Chad - - At least we know he's not delerious and hasn't pressed the 991 button by accident. Hopefully the motel stay gave him a recharge and he's feeling good and strong for the final leg.

Mike Curiak has agreed to post some updates and speculation, at least for the first couple days (he may be off on a bikepacking trip himself). We'll start a new thread for 300 updates here.
Some clouds have mercifully moved in, at least in Tucson. Hope the same is true 100 miles north of here for Chad.
I expect Chad to finish sometime tonight, maybe 9-10pm? Good chance he'll pull out his SPOT and send an OK then.

Chad finishes! Just got an OK message at the finish trailhead, at about 7:40pm. Awesome!!!! That's great time for the last stretch. That's a tentative finish time of 3:10:00. He has blown away the current singlespeed record. Way to go Chad!

I just talked to him briefly. He should have some good stories to tell if the synopsis version is any indication.
Multiple flats, multiple mount failures (GPS and light), multiple broken chains, ranchers opening wells for AZT/GET hikers (and we hope bikers), a 'mad cow' story... and that was just today.
Can't wait to hear more.
He's pedaling to Superior now (uphill unfortunately), and isn't going to ride any further. 300 is enough, ya know?

Wow amazing! I already stocked up on "beefy" slime tubes after his opening day issues. Broken chains, man, that SUCKS on a SS.
Can't wait to hear the stories, maybe over some beer on Thurs night Chad? (I know you'll see this eventually and Kurt and I are hoping to stay at your place and get help down to the start)

Man Chad, that's a lot of failures in just a single day. Now I'm even more nervous...
Impressive job prevailing!

As I said at MTBR...
You're a badass, Chad! Nicely done. Can't wait to hear the story.
You just needed to go SS, was all.
What on earth brand of chain were you using?
