Ahhhhhh..... Arizona singletrack. I would do it all over again this weekend if I could. Those that have not ridden the AZT 300, you are in for a treat. Yes, there are moments where you will hike, but those moments will be outweighed by fast, amazing singletrack that you would otherwise not be able to ride. I only wish there were a few more pubs and cafes along the route, then it would be a perfect route.
Thank you for watching and speculating. The SPOT was both a blessing and curse, at times it motivated me and there were others when I was not sure I knew if it was even working. About my fast tour mode, I managed to go to bed at 9pm every night, slept in until 7-8am (only on the last day did I wake up at 530am) and rode my slow SS-pace with only a few 10-minute stops. There was a glimmer of hope before Patagonia when I thought I was on going to be racing again like the last few years, until I looked on the patio of Velvet Elvis. People were having pizza, enjoying the AZ weather and their calzones (Seinfeld episode flashback!). I sat down, ordered up two calzones and began to relax having just completed the Canelos (btw, which means golden brown in Spanish)...
Thanks again Scott for your time, pre-rding, and effort for putting on my favorite race... More details on the blog later, I have to ride over to Scott's house to get my car.

Once he gets past Palisades, he will have gone past his previous pull out points on the AZT300. Hopefully he'll celebrate a bit in Summerhaven.  And celebrate I did.....  ... and I think it helped me fly down Oracle Ridge faster. |

Thank you again for everyone that followed. I tried to do the same thing that ya'll did for me during the AZT 300 this weekend by speculating and adding pictures. It has been a superb race! I have put some of the report on the blog for those that want to read it. http://chadfbrown.blogspot.com/ I just need the final day to make it complete, hope to get some time tomorrow to do it. The final day will have the mad cow story, one of my weirdest/craziest trail encounters ever. |
