Thanks krefs. Probably, I will see what I can find up at Mingus lake, and if its ugly, then Potato Patch isn't that far. (800 ft, 4.2 miles RT).

Hello Coconino 250 Stage Racers!

I'm looking for a ride from the finish in Flagstaff to the Phoenix Airport after the stage on Monday 8 Oct.  Anyone going that way that could give me a lift for some gas money?  Just me, no bike.  I have a choice of flights, 5:55, 6:01, 6:30, 7:25, 8:05.  The earlier the better for me to get back to Denver but need to make sure I have a ride that can get me there in time.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Not sure of my plans yet Les, but good chance someone will be able to get you there... on the way back to Tucson.

Tracking sign-up is ready on trackleaders.com:

http://trackleaders.com/coconino-signup

Rentals and private add options available.  As always, tracking is not required, but is a lot of fun!

Also, I finally revived my sleepy blog with a post about my 2nd attempt (another failure) on the Coco last may:

http://www.topofusion.com/diary/2012/09/13/coconino-redo/

Happy fall, y'all.  Looks like it'll be a great crew this year... should be fun!

Yeah, Mingus always looks pretty gnarly to me.

Keep in mind that stage 2 is arguably the hardest and unless they move quickly, folks tend to end up finishing late at night.

what's the preferred water filter method for this route... filter or tablets? or run from spigot to spigot?

just reserved my SPOT, Oct. 5th come soon.

Scope out reply #33 on page 2 of this thread. That should help.

If you're planning to rent a SPOT for this year's coco and haven't yet signed up, please drop me a note (smorris@topofusion.com) or go ahead and sign up ASAP.  I'm trying to get a handle on the number of units we'll need.

Also if you are ITT'ing or going on the 12th and want a rental, please send me a note ASAP so we can try to work something out.  Thanks.

I think everyone either filters or uses tablets at some point on the loop, particularly on Stage 3 which has no spigots or stores on route.

I will be starting on Oct 5th about noon so I'll be chasing tracks all day. I will drive to Flagstaff early Fri morning. Will make for a long Friday. Guess I better pack some lights now. See everybody at camp.

I'll be driving in for the Oct 5th start. Any suggestions for a spot to leave a car for a few nights while I'm on trail?

You can drive up into the neighborhood to the west of The Place. We found a place to park in front of a vacant lot, so as not to block someones house.

Get a hotel or park somewhere in Flagstaff in the streets. Pretty chilled city for the most part.

Beto and I are on for the 5th.  Both of us old farts are having tendonitis issues, so we'll see what happens.  We may be buying ice in Sedona.

Anyone else having trouble with the GPX file?  I'm only getting 128 miles on my GPS.  What am I doing wrong?

no problem here...working on it right now. It is the "CLR11 v2" file from the AES website. Way point file is working good also.
