Probably not a good idea because of all the horrible tan lines and saddle sores!

To each their own. My wife and I happen to think that our tan lines are hot. As for the saddles sores, well that's what makeup artists and airburshing are for!

I submit Kurt Sandiforth for a spot... he's too underground to care, but he did manage the first-ever "Triplecrown" - AZTR, TD, CTR. On the female side, Cat Morrison and Eszter Horanyi of course oughta be mentioned!

Well I'll vote! ha ha!
Top 3 males
Jay Petervary: 1st in the inaugural Stagecoach 400 Race and new Tour divide Record holder. Kurt Sandiforth: Triple Crown. 1st in Arizona Trail Race, 4th in Tour Divide (and one of 4 to break the old record) and 9th in the Colorado Trail Race. I was ready to give it to Kurt until JP came out of the woodwork to ITT the Tour divide. Jefe Branham: New Colorado Trail race record, (sub 4 days!)
Top 3 females
Eszter Horonyi: No kidding! Smashed the Tour Divide Record. 1st women overall and 3rd overall at Stagecoach 400. Cat Morrison: Awesome Colorado Trail race and 10th overall. Katherine Wallace: For one with so little mountain bike bikepacking experience she did awesome. Did well at the Stagecoach 400 and 2nd woman overall at the Tour Divide coming in well below the previous woman's record.

Dave Nice aka Slowerthansnot. Not the fastest rider out there but definitely the most persistant.

I would have to vote for Kurt Sandiforth. Triple crown is a huge achievement and his results in the three races are super impressive.

I'm surprised no one has yet mentioned Mike Hall...I was more impressed and inspired with his World Cycle Tour ride than probably any others that I followed or read about this year, aside from perhaps the Charlie Fowler Tower Tour, but alas, that wasn't a race. Eszter, Jefe, Ollie, and Jay all had some very impressive rides, too.
But why bother ranking all these achievements at all? I still am convinced that many middle-of-the-pack racers suffer considerably more than race leaders, and many very impressive performances come from these riders. I'd be more inclined to vote for guys and gals like Mark Caminiti, Chris Neumann, and Tracy Petervary after hearing the stories of how must suffering they pushed through to finish races (as well as *anyone* who managed to finish the Iditasport race to McGrath this year!). They may not have gone fast, but they sure exude passion and demonstrate how physically and mentally strong they are.

Hi Kurt,
you are right: Why do rankings for "unrankable" performance? Everybody who is pushing himself out of his personal comfort zone is some kind of a hero. Basicly one can not rank anything else but time. The effort, the suffering, the challenge and so on, one can not compare, judge, rank ... i
Cheers

There were many many great cycling feats this year by both men and women. I was constantly impressed by countless riders but I would say the overall title went to the rider who used his bike to re-socket his knee or hip and continued to ride for quite some time. I wish I remember his name but am way too tired right now to look for it.
