Hi all!

This year's race is going to include two old guys from Fort Collins who are raising pledges to support RAMSTRONG.  RS is a cancer foundation in Fort Collins that put 100% of money raised into the hands of families and individuals who need help making ends meet because they are suffering from cancer.  My dad and sister are both fighting cancer right now and we thought....hey, why not make this lunacy (doing the friggin CTR) benefit someone!  The community support that we are getting is blowing up!  We ensure that our fundraising does not inpact the race in any way, shape or form PROMISE!  We are riding together but will observe the letter of the law in terms of outside support!   If anyone out there who is doing the race wants to join the fight and raise money too, just email me at tommyj111@hotmail.com or call me at 970-988-1206!  We are doing uniforms and bikes from Trek (via Bike n Hike in Longmont) headbang and the whole business so spread the word!  Less than 6 months to get ready!

I raised money for Livestrong on last years CTR. I live in a small town and I didn't get much support here locally. I was able to raise $1500 just through email and by having the info on my blog and having word of mouth. My dad is still battling cancer. Good luck.

Thanks so much for the encouragement!  Are you doing it again this year?  If you have any advice we sure could use it!  I'm sorry to hear about your dad.  My dad has Leukemia and my sister has breast cancer.  I figure it's the least I can do......Thanks again and I hope to see you in August!

Good job you guys!

Are you still going to be doing the fundraising, or rather are you still going to be racing? I'm getting closer and closer to my decision. I might be interested in joining your efforts.

Hey Stanley!

Thanks for the post!  We are most definitely DOING IT!  So far we have about $12,000 raised so we are a bit behind but our preperations and training are taking more time and effort than there are hours in the day!  Are you in Fort Collins by chance??  Give me a call and we can talk about the opportunities!

WWWWWWWWWWOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!   I friggin' FINISHED!!!  That was THE hardest thing I have ever done and I am already thinking about how to do things differently for next year!  What a life changing experience!  This event is harder than you can ever imagine.............even as slow as I did it!  11 days with 2 FULL days off in Salida to heal my lungs.  Went out too hard even though it didnt feel like it.  Crushed my CV system so I decided to scratch, but after two days in the hostel( thumbsup) in Salida, everything came back and I felt better than before the race!  Settled into my own SLOW pace and enjoyed just having the trail to myself.  Congrats to everyone who finished and thank you so much to Stephan for all the hard work putting this thing together.not to mention an awesome time!  See you all next August! headbang headbang headbang headbang headbang

Way to get'r done!  Finishing this route was the hardest thing I've done on a bike too...I completely agree about the level of difficulty.  That difficulty makes it so much more satisfying at the end.

Already thinking of next year?  Sicko!  (me too)

Nice job.  It was great to see you get back on the horse and ride on into Durango.  Congrats!

Hey Scott!  Thanks a lot!  It was hard in some ways to get back out on the trail, but I knew I would never be able to look myself in the eye again if I quit!  This is a BRUTAL event!  It's good to be on the finisher side though!  Next year I will take a different approach and hopefully take a couple of days off my finishing time!  Congratulations on a super race!
