I have thought about doing a non-stop ride and I am starting to consider it. Maybe I will really go for it and see what happens. I think the time to beat is 39 hours, which is very fast for a strait thru ride of 250 mi.
So if you are going to ride 40 miles the first day which is definitely doable, that will put you right outside of munds park which is a good place to get some more supplies from a fairly well stocked gas station if you need to resupply here, if not then keep going because Sedona is only another 20 miles or so.
For in the first 25 miles or so out of town there is some technical riding and some hike a bike but minimal, maybe some slow sections here and there. I think that the first 54 miles to the end of stage one are 90 percent or more rideable. For me to get to the end of stage one it took me just under 6 hours, so if you are keeping it at 8mph then you are in great shape. There is a lot of forrest service road riding in the first stage that goes quickly.
I think that getting to stage 2 the second day is definitely doable. That would be a total of around 65 miles in one day. You can do it, it might be a long day though. The lime kiln section of the trail will be a bitch though if its hot if you hit that during the heat of the day, but the verde river isn't far away and you could jump in and cool off. The climb to the top of munds is big but there are worse hills in my opinion.

Hey Dave,
Looks like you are going to be all alone on the ride man. I found major cracks in both my main and rear triangle on my Ibis Mojo carbon frame. I don't have a backup bike to use either so I am out. I won't have a new frame for a couple of weeks. Hope you have a great ride! I'll be doing mine in June now.
Eric

Eric - Sorry to hear about your frame, That really sucks! I would still like to meet up while I am out there. Send me an email with your phone # and I will give you a call when I get done on Tuesday. I will be leaving from absolute bike shop Friday afternoon about 2pm if you work near there, stop by and say Hi.
Chad - I was not expecting SNOW! Did it stick or will it be gone by Friday?

Ya, but good news is, that it's covered under warranty and I will have a brand new frame by next week. I am upgrading to the Mojo-HD which really psyched for. Ya, I will for sure come by I have Friday off work and I will be around, just give me a call when you get into flagstaff. ewf6@nau.edu6027581210 Snow didn't stick to the ground, only place it stuck was about 8500 feet. We didn't get that much precipitation either. I think we got .5" with locally heavier amounts over 3 days. Even now I doubt there will be any mud on the ground, should be super dry by friday.

Count me in for a through-ride effort next May. Hopefully by then I'll be able to see part of the course from my house!
Enjoy the new bike, Eric, and good luck, Dave!
