At that very picnic table in `07, i ate city market out of house and home. i dare say DH doesn't hold the record split there. No matter, time spent at BV city market is inversely proportional to time spent bonking on Sargents mesa & beyond.

Bon appetit DJ and JB!

Several calls this morning and late last night. Andy Farish called in last night from Copper with a brake issue but he called again this morning with a temp fix so he's heading out. Zack Guy called in from Leadville. He had Cindy Lauper stuck in his head but seemed to like it. Aaron Weinsheimer also called in this morning from Leadville and Nathan Gallion called in from outside Breck. Get 'em here and have them with your coffee! Or scotch...

Howdy All,

I had a bad case of saddle sores and bailed at Breck. Coasted in to Frisco for a bacon cheese burger with extra salt and a couple PBRs.  Went home and cared for my lame ass.

Good luck to all those still on course!

Sorry to hear it, Bart. I'm sure a wet seat wasn't much help.

BTW, Folks, Eszter Horanyi called in from Buena Vista where she hopes to pick up some better rain gear.

Yeah, it turns out that a constantly wet chamois plus a 25 lbs pack is a bad combo! I was pretty jealous of all those revelate design frame packs. Getting the weight off the back would of caused less pressure on my butt for sure.

Thanks to all those that make the Internet experience possible for friends and family.

i can't say enough about A+D Ointment as the ultimate chamois lube--especially during monsoon season.

It's impressive how much time Jeff, Ethan and Jesse have made up. Tales of my demise can be found here http://pedalsnotpistons.blogspot.com/

Thanks for the write-up, Dug. You have been going well this year. Even your short course riding has been impressive. I dare say your bug last week had more to do with undermining any multi-day superpower (read: constitution) than being way past-peak. No worries. "The Race" ain't going anywhere--in fact it only seems to get better with each edition. There's always an ITT in a couple weeks if it's not sitting well with you.

That's interesting that your radar isn't displayed with bilinear filtering (it's blocky).  What browser is that screen shot from?

Mark Caminit called in from Copper Mountain waiting for Quiznos to open. And Nathan Gallion called in after crossing the ridge over looking Copper Mtn.

Update: Nathan Gallion called in  with a back brake failure as he descended down the ridge towards Copper. He’s having to use his front brake only. With any luck he can get down the ridge and into a shop for a fix.

Looks like Jeff and Ethan have finished the slog up out of Fooses Creek to the Crest with Jesse not too far behind.

Hike out of Fooses - it aint fun!

Next up they have some fun riding (and hiking) in Sergents Mesa

Followed by the relief of the Cochetopa Hills and some nice fast doubletrack before a long 50 mile detour around the La Garita Wilderness.

I wonder if the Trail Angel tent will be there again this year?  Those bags of Cheese-its and crackers sure hit the spot!!!

Could someone please email some suggestions on how we might determine the wherabouts and welfare of our son, Tom Komoroski.  He apparently started the race with a SPOT and has not been seen or heard from since Monday morning.  We are starting to panic and would like some help.  I am heading to Colorado tomorrow, but it is a nine hour drive and I would like to have a strategy in place to find him well before I leave.  It would be unusual for him not to check in via the podcast or with us.

Do you know if he's carrying a cell phone? There isn't a land line on the route necessarily until he gets to Copper Mtn and the SPOT won't send out more signals if he has it in the wrong mode (OK vs Track). There is a good chance that nothing is wrong at all if the only signs are that he hasn't checked in. Do you know what bike he is riding and color jersey to check the start pictures with?

I put a message up on the call in line to see if anyone has seen him.
