Got a call from Mark C today @ 2:00, his solar charger finally got his phone going plus he was near a cell tower Near the Lake City area. He did not go into Lake City he was determined to make Carson Saddle? I think that's what he said?? And was thinking he would be in Silverton tomorrow around 2. Way to go Nate that was a super strong 100miles. Your lucky to have such a great family thumbsup  Also, amazing to see Ezther's ride wow, what a powerhouse, i was glued to her spot. Way to go Ezther!!!

Throwing some love out there to the Crested Butte crew who seem to have collectively put together a great race... 1st, 4th (1st female), 5th, & 6th!?  Looks like there's some SPOT issues with the group of 5 who were duking it out from Molas Pass today, but is it safe to assume that Matt Steinwand came in first of that group and 6th overall?  Either way, awesome result for this great bunch of riders & CB Mt Biking in general.

Its been amazing following the race with the SPOT tracking system & user-friendly website.  Is there any reason this system wouldn't work for a backcountry ski race like the Elk Mountains Grand Traverse? - http://www.elkmountaintraverse.org/

I know Steve Lacey has been disqualified but can you turn his spot back on?  He was planning to ride from Silverton to Durango today.  Without the spot I have no way of knowing if he's okay or where he's at.  His cell phone is dead.

Cat Morrison called in with her finish call. She finished at 2am giving her 6:19:19!
Toby Gadd called in from Silverton with an update and a warning!
Mark Caminiti’s girlfriend, Layla, called in with an update on him. He was able to call her from near Lake City and hoped to get to Silverton later today.

What was Toby's warning?  my brother Bob will be in Silverton really late tonight or tomorrow.
thanks!

Heard from Bob yesterday, he's doing well and feeling better, he's going to keep on keeping on.

Thanks for all the discussion board and the spot tracker Scott, and others!  I too have been watching this many times/day over the past week and will keep watching because there are folks out on that course still!

Everyone who hasn't, give a little to the folks who set this system up for us at, the Donate link off to the side of the main page, or:

http://trackleaders.com/support

If you don't have paypal, find someone who does and give them a $20 for supporting these guys.

Just another bike rider/sometimes racer watching this in awe,
jon

Sure thing, he's back on the tracker now.  Not sure why he got pulled, either Matthew or I must have thought he was done riding.  It's our intention to keep tracking everyone until they are totally done, regardless of route, rules and all that funny business.

Thanks for the support, Jon et al.

Awesome ride Dylan!  You're almost there.

We've been lurking and watching the race for the past week.  You folks are a special breed of crazy, and we have nothing but respect and admiration for all the riders.

Congratulations everyone.

And somehow, I missed that Cat Morrison also finished very early this morning. She finished in 6:19:19, which also came in faster than the previous woman's record. Totally fantastic!

Was wondering what is the best route from Denver to Durango? 285-to 160 Del Norte to Pagosa?  Or 285 to 50 then 550 Montrose, Ouray Silverton? I am going to head out to pick up Mark C. tomorrow and wanted best and quickest route, I've mapquested and that was a major waste of time. Thanks in advance..Layla

Fastest - I-25 to Walsenberg, 160 West to Durango. sleepy1

Best - 285 to Poncha Springs, West to Gunny, West to Montrose, S. to Durango.

I've driven from Boulder/Denver/Golden to Durango multiple times over the years and found the fastest was 285 to 112 to 160. The fastest I've done it was about 5 hrs 40 mins. I have also taken the 1-25 to Walsenburg (160) to Durango route, which is good for the interstate (going 75) outside of the cities (Denver, Colo Spgs, etc) if you go off hours (not during the rush hour).

Actually, it might take you perhaps 20 minutes longer. From Idaho Springs, I'd take I-70 to Copper. Then, take 91 to Leadville, and 24 to Buena Vista, which joins 285. From there, take 285 to Center, 112 to 160, then 160 to Durango. I'll  bet you can do it under 6 hours.
