I'll throw out a little info about a friend of mine. Clark Davidson, currently in 40th and climbing Cottonwood Pass is from Austin and is a local frame builder (True Fabrication Bicycles). He is taking it slow and steady and seems to be doing awesome. Looks to be on about a 9 or 10 day pace.
There were 3 True Fabrication Bicycles that hit the Colorado Trail this summer!

I got to see Kevin when he rode in to Silverton. He looked good though his feet are a wet mess and he has some good high altitude lung grunge going. Otherwise he was eating a burger and fries while wringing out wet gear and planning the last food purchase... His quote "this thing is brutal"... Lots of appreciation to everyone who has been tracking and supporting all these folks.

I think Kevin might be a robot. Check him when he gets to Durango. Molas to Durango is a lot harder on the trail than it looks in the guide book!

He is riding so strong. I can't even imagine going onto that last section with that short of a break in Silverton after doing the Coney/Cataract segment. Breaking the record looks a little out of reach at this point but then again going from Saguache Park to Molas Pass in one day seemed out of reach as well and he has proved it can be done.

Wow, Kevin is hauling! last year it took me 14 hrs to get from Silverton to D town and with how much quicker he did section 22 and 23 anything is possible.

If he can pull 14 hours, he may just slide under the record, but it won't be a slam dunk. I'll be amazed - Silverton to Dgo has taken me 18-20 every CTR I've ridden. But I'm usually so ridiculously wasted that I can barely even focus on the trail...

My 24 yr old son Jesse Palmer is out there in the star light tonight in 24th place. He Is from Humboldt county Ca, and rode for CalPoly/SLO for years. He rode the 24hr solo at the Coolest 24hrs and Boggs Mtn in California many times. For a rookie sea level fellow he seems to be doing just fine.

Well, watching this race online is super addictive and interesting to watch the progress. Mad props to those crazy enough to do it. I am heading to the Junction Creek campground tomorrow for the weekend, and may see some finishers. Need to give a shout out to my friend Dan (DH on the map) who we are picking up down there. He left Sat at 6pm hoping to give himself enough time to make it there by this weekend (so we can drive him back Monday). I believe it is his first mtn bike race ever, and he is on a rigid SS, riding flat pedals, cause he is nuts (like everyone else who signs up for this thing).
I am amazed at how fast the leaders caught him (starting 36 hrs later), and slightly concerned that he seems to have gotten race fever since being caught. He seemed to be pacing himself, even stopped for a shower in Buena Vista apparently, but has been on a roll since the race caught up. Best of luck to everyone still out there putting the hurt on.

Excellent, John Ross' progress up the field continues smoothly, currently asleep in 10th place with a decent gap to 11th, Cat Morrison just repassed him. Must feel good to be passing so many riders all the time, though I wonder if at any point he'll regret not starting faster/with less sleep. Will he keep up the 8 hours a night sleep routine to the end, or start racking up the sleep deprivation any time soon?

shaggy is going so well. he had precious little time to get used to altitude, so i suspect starting at the speed he did was ideal - despite being a 'lowlander' he thinks things through extremely well...
i've ridden some of the trail in the area myself and above 8000ft i was sucking hard to get any oxygen...its humbling to see how strong all these guys and gals are...

Scott or anyone, any idea why Cat Morrison is showing up as 1st place when you click her 'full history' link on tracklogs? So is KT, did she start at a different time?

Kevin slept 5 hrs last night, the record is safe but there is no question he is putting in an amazing ride.

This is Kurt Ireland's sister. I just wanted to write in and say how proud we all are of Kurtie!! This is Kurt's 3rd CRT ride so my 3rd time to follow him. It is sooo addictive... I love it! I've been enjoying following the other veterans I remember from years past as well. The physical and MENTAL toughness this race requires just boggles the mind! I stand in amazement of all of the riders.
So from St. Louis, Buena Vista, and Roswell where family members are watching Kurtie's race progress....
GO KURTIE GO, GO KURTIE GO!!!

But Molas to Durango also has some of the sweetest downhills imaginable.

Hi all, This is Joey Ernst's mom. He is currently bouncing back and forth between 12th and 14th place. It is his first time doing the CTR and his family's first time watching it. I have to agree with Kurt's sister - it is addictive. Joey is originally a flatlander from Indiana and he's been living in Colorado for about six years. He currently lives in Durango. We are amazed at the strength and determination of all the CTR racers! Way to go everyone!!! Go Joey! Woo Hoo!

Sure, those racers--including my brother Jarral--are working hard for 19+ hours a day, but I have to sit here at my desk in my cube and try to get something done while that web page tracker is calling out, "Hey, dude, you'd better update again, they've moved...oh, no, he hasn't moved in 45 minutes, there may be something wrong..."

Thanks for pointing that out. She got an extremely errant point -- most erroneous SPOT point I have ever seen and it was messing her stats up. I edited it out.
