While some of their mates are out burning and looting in the streets of London, the 3 brits are wrapping up their own saga on the CTR!  Well done fellas, way to come together and put the i back in team.  Hope the shit back home gets sorted out soon.

Curious how the 17yr old kid was doing (sorry, can't recall his name). Quite an impressive undertaking for someone so young. Wishing him the best of luck....

Hi guys! I'm back in Boulder after finishing in Durango around five o'clock on Saturday night (total time: 6 days, 23 hours, 21 minutes). I highly recommend the ~1 week CTR, I had plenty of time for a few bacon-and-eggs breakfasts, and a couple showers thumbsup. Thanks to everyone for inspiration and encouragement - it was a great ride through some glorious scenery!

'From the 3 Brits' - Thanks very much indeed to the many supportive and friendly people we met en route. Having decided to retire Forest Baker was very generous in donating part of his rear mech to me somewhere above Slumgullion, I had ridden from Fish creek on a zip tie jury rig and the prospect of continuing to Silverton before a repair wasn't appealling. Forest, I'll put you on my Christmas card list.
We are currently lazing in Durango, any suggestions on post race holiday activities in this town?

as already stated, if you still have the legs there are incredible rides in and around Durango. go to Durango Cyclery and meet Russell, he'll set you straight. one of the most genuine people on the planet and knows the area better than most.

Cheers

Mountain Biking may be off the agenda for a day or so but we will be eating for Britain, any cafe / restaurant recommendations gratefully received.

Becky, we were very impressed how strong you were when you rode away from us over Coney - and surprised and sorry to see you scratch at Silverton, you would have completed it.

First thing I did after arriving home from the CTR on Saturday night was tube down the river on Sunday.  You can rent tubes at Four Corners River Sports, or Durango Rafting Company.  My girlfriend and I took John Ross tubing and he appeared to enjoy it tremendously... almost as tremendously as our various meals at Homeslice, Carver's, and the Cosmopolitan!

Carver's has the best breakfast in town.  Homeslice has American-style pizza.  Fired Up has absolutely delicious Italian-style, wood-oven pizza.  The Cosmo is a little spendy but very, very good for dinner.

Yes, there's wonderful riding here, but if you feel anything like I do mentally you're not getting back on the bike any time soon.  The Steaming Bean is a great coffee shop, Maria's Bookstore is great for browsing or buying, and Durango Cyclery, San Juan Cycles, or (I humbly submit my own place of employment) Papa Wheelie's are great bike shops.

Enjoy our sweet mountain town!

Thanks, Forest! Hilarious story from the group on ATVs about the guy you rode down with hurling rocks at them. I can only imagine what you must have been thinking!!
