Looking at the CDOT road conditions map, mile marker 165 is right where Hwy 24 starts switch backing up to Tennessee pass and about 1.5 miles south of where the CO trail crosses 24. So yeah, it should be a problem.

I looked at Toby's GPS track on Google Earth and we do cross US-24 in the area, but don't actually ride on 24 until the Leadville side of Tennessee Pass. The CT parallels 24 on the east side until about 1-1/2 miles north of the pass, where it crosses over 24 to the west side. CT stays on the west side of the highway until about a mile south of the pass, where it jumps onto 24 for the section into Leadville. However, this might be quite the potential gap jump. I'll bring the camera and others can jump... If the CDOT map is correct the sinkhole is definitely after you cross 24 coming up from Camp Hale. You then do not ride on 24 until after Wurtz Ditch, so no worries. The funny thing is you ride on an old railroad grade most of the way up to Tennessee Pass after crossing the highway. Watch out for new holes everyone!!!!! :>)

It will be coming tonight or tomorrow morning! Unfortunately, I can't do this stuff at my new job since I can't VNC out to my home PC...

Yes I want a third official race finish. I have two, plus an '08 ITT finish and an annoying come up 65 miles short effort in the '07 race. From what I can tell, only Jefe, Ethan and Cat have three official race finishes. That is an impressive list but short list. Plus I want to complete a second AZT750/CTR double, which would be a first.

Sounds like you've got some great motivation. I'm hoping for a second finish, and to redeeming last year's failure. I have enough days to go fast(er) or slow(er) this time, so at least that won't be an impediment!

It got real for me when I bought my plane ticket. Now that my ITT start is a week away, seeing the actual weather forecasts on my iPhone makes it seem VERY real. Gulp.

Hello CTR 2012 riders! The trackleaders sign-up and Spot Rental form is live! http://trackleaders.com/ctr-checkoutYou can register your Spot, or rent one from this page. Please be sure to read all the notes, especially if you are renting a Spot. Get signed up ASAP so trackleaders can figure out how many rentals are needed and get them to me (or you!) well before the race (or your ITT) start date. See ya @ Waterton in a few weeks. I'll be there at 5am to hand out rental Spots. Cheers, Stefan

Thanks Stefan.
Noob question here. If I have my own spot tracker do I still need to get a subscription with spot + the $30, or do I just need to pay the $30? Thanks!!

Yes, you do need a subscription with Spot and a share page set up. The $30 is for trackleaders to add your info to the leaderboard. BTW everyone, Spots and being part of the leaderboard are not requirements for the CTR! They are encouraged, and it is a good way for friends and family (and possibly stalkers!) to keep track of you, but you are free to do it with no Spot if you like. There will be a call-in # provided by MTB-Cast that can be used optionally as well. However, if you intend to challenge the course record, some form of verification is extremely important to legitimatize your effort! This can be in several forms (GPS track, photographs, other racers) but a SPOT is the preferred method.

Hey All: My dad was going to meet me in Durango with a beer and return trip to Denver, but he called this morning changing plans. So..... My plan is to get to Durango in 6-7 days. If anyone has room to get me back there I would sure appreciate it. I can leave my phone # as a way of contacting me or PM me here. If nothing works out I will probably get a rental car or U Haul in Durango for a return trip and would be happy to help someone else out. Let me know. (As I told my wife tonight, the least of my worries about this race is getting back from Durango ) Zip

Hey Zip!
So I've got the same plan as you. I'm hoping to land in Durango sometime between Friday night or saturday. I was already planning on renting a car and driving back to Boulder that weekend. If it works out so that we finish around the same time, I'd love to ride back together. We could split the cost and I could drop you off anywhere around denver. Send me a PM if you're interested and we can swap phone numbers and go from there. See you in a few weeks at Waterton!
Cheers anthony

So I need to get to Cortez so that I can make my flight back to Flagstaff. And I am wondering if there is anyone that lives in the area of Durango that could give me a ride to Cortez. I will pay you for time and gas and would greatly appreciate it. If I can't find a ride I have plans to just ride my bike from Durango to Cortez which I beleive is 60 miles give or take.

If anyone racing the CTR wants to borrow my SPOT 2, I'll be happy to loan my out, for perhaps fresh AAA Lithiums (bring it back, filled up!). You can either pick it up in Denver, or I can mail it to you - I'll try sending it with an envelop w/returned postage - could save you a few $$$. Trackleaders also lends them out for a modest fee.
I'm in Denver, if you'd like to pick it up. PM me. I'd love to be at the start (or even race it), but I'll be on a music tour, starting that same day!

Let's hear the tunes! I'm a former gigging musician myself and love to hear other folks' stuff. Anymore I just play for my cat... although there are rumors of a new band beginning sometime in early 2013 down Durango way...
