I welcome other opinions - I'm sure I know Toby's already.

Smiley

We may be biased by our desire to watch the race, but it seems fine to me.  It's certainly been done throughout the divide race for years.  Kind of a different piece of equipment than the rest...

Bless Toby's heart!

One very noble and humble Kevin Thomas is going to hand his Spot off to Jesse in B.V.   thumbsup

Much Thanks!  Plus, it makes keeping my foot elevated for another 3-4 days of on-the-couch-time much more manageable when his spot is moving.
Thanks EVERYONE, I am also as a wife, glad he has the emergency button, esp during segments of the race are so remote.

GOOD LUCK EVERYONE ELSE TOO, stay safe and injury free.

Looks like Aaron Weinsheimer may be bailing, he spent the night in Breck and is apparently now headed south to his home in Salida.  No confirmation, of course, but that's what the tracker looks like.

Jesse's call-in from Leadville was at 7:15, putting him about 1 hour in front of Jefe even though he thinks he is behind...

Wow!  Better text Kevin to get to BV soon Wink  Will we see sub 4 days this year?  Rain doesn't seem to bother these kids anymore.

Jesse is fast, but remember last year.  Killed it until he wore himself out!  I quote an email from him last week:  "...if my psycho plan works out..." - speaking of his race pace plan.  Maintaining that will be tough!  Rooting for him though, along with about a dozen others...

Toby Gadd called in from on top of 10-Mile. He busted a rear-D and is walking to Copper to get it fixed. Someone offered him theirs but he turned it down in deference to the rules.

I agree with you guys.  Glad you made that decision, Stefan.

This is going to be exciting!  With Kevin out, clearly JJ, Jefe and Ethan are the odds on favorites to finish at the front.  However, I think Matt Schiff might be the darkhorse.

Yeah, Dave, I am thinking someone will go under 4 days this year.  If not this year, my guess is that it will happen soon, and it may be well under 4 days.

I was looking at the map over the last few days, wistfully wishing to be out there this year.  Plotting out a highly-hypothetical sub-four-day pace, I was just laughing at myself, it looked so hard.  These guys aren't far off the landmarks I'd figured for that pace, though... perhaps this is the year!  There are a lot of miles left, to be sure...

More calls: Anthony Arena called in from Copper! He’s dried out and pushing on. And Jesse Jakomait called in from BV! He has a SPOT!

In spite of his call in, JJ is still not tracking yet.

I would assume it takes some backend techy fiddling to get the new SPOT re-assigned and tracking correctly on the site.

Spot changover not yet incorporated to the trackleaders website.  In the meantime, here's that Spot's sharepage:  http://share.findmespot.com/shared/faces/viewspots.jsp?glId=0mlfQBojZODKkaY3HuuoumL2Thhr3uXPi

Looks like Ethan wasted no time in B.V. with a flawless P.O. pickup and is now somewhere near Jesse, getting soaked in the rain on the ride up the pavement to the Avalanche TH.

Meanwhile, Jefe is fueling up at the Safeway.  Hoping to hear from Max in B.V. soon too.  His Spot likely just needs to be reset.  If any of you reading this are in communication with racers having Spot issues, please let them know they need to reset tracking mode every 24 hours - I bungled that communique at the start.

Breathe easy folks, Jesse is back tracking and ranked #1 on the tracker.

Nice work, Stefan and Kevin!

It's beautiful out there!  Tacky trails in Pb.

In a "nice"  Wink twist of events, the leaders are getting pounded by weather, while the rest of the pack is enjoying a little dry spell!

The radar overlay really is a brilliant addition to the already impressive tracker.

This forum rat, blue dot stalker thing pretty much has me climbing the walls. I like to pedal far more than post, but here I am. My original intention was to cobble together the worn out old drivetrain with a couple of new chainrings and start my ITT again tomorrow, but after thousands upon thousands of miles and a really hard time finding the correct parts in stock between three bike shops on Wadsworth yesterday, I decided to do it right and replace it all. Since throwing down the old Visa and paying it off is not my style, I will be starting my ITT in 2-3 weeks with a mechanically sound bike and some help from my awesome and compassionate coworkers to free up my schedule.

I learned a good lesson Monday morning as everyone who looked at my chainrings chuckled in amazement as to how they were even usable (and these were my 3rd new set of each). I guess I need a full time bike mechanic on the payroll (HAHA)...Anyway, thanks to the mechanics at Bike Source, Bicycle Village and Performance Bike who basically dropped everything to try to locate parts and help me. And thanks to those here in Denver who offered rides and assistance.

Greg, I believe I met you on my way back down the trail. Great to see you our there and congrats on your journey! Thanks for the mention and it is awesome to know that my accounts of my experiences on two wheels inspire others rather than just garner smug laughter  thumbsup

As I sit here semi-pouting that I am pushing a mouse instead of a Superfly 100 on the CT, I am blown away by  the pace EP, JJ and JB. Completely in awe.

Good luck to all!
Jill

Damn, I want to be out there! This time last year I was being sick on the trail somewhere before Copper Mountain. Good times ;-)
