I can't tell what the hell is actually happening out there, but it is crazy exciting in any case.  Jefe might have made sub-four days but not sure, don't know what's up with Ethan before the climb to High Point, and Jesse's tracker's been off line long enough to make anyone nervous about his actual location.  Might have to just ride up to the trailhead and see what's happening!

Amazing.... Jefe!  HUGE congrats.  If not sub 4 days, very close.

Agree there is some mystery with JJ and EP, but most likely they just stopped.  Can't imagine the kind of willpower it must have taken for Jefe to keep pushing all night on night 4.  Blown away.

Rick - Just texted with Max.  He had a cold night but got 4+ hours of sleep outside Silverton.  He grabbed breakfast at the Brown Bear and is heading out soon.  Doesn't even want to bother with grabbing food at the post office, he's so sick of sugary race food.  You'll probably run into him, he'll be up on Molas within a couple hours!

Jefe!!  SUB FOUR !!!!

Agree with the Olympic comment ... I truly believe there is a very small handful of people on this planet that could do what Jefe, Ethan, and Jesse have just done over the last four days ...

Ladies and gentlemen, here's your 2012 Gold medalist in the CTR event.  And silver and bronze just behind (very hopeful that Jesse is ok and it's just a Spot issue).    WELL DONE!!

Way to go Jefe!  occasion14

Awesome ride, getting it done in < 4 days!  Amazing!

Props to Ethan and Jesse too!  Incredible effort by all three of you.

Best of luck to all the other riders out there, tearing it up!  Keep on rolling towards Durango.

Cat lost her Spot. She was at the top of spring creek, per some texans, around 5 yesterday evening.

Wow, Jefe!  Completely blown away and sooo psyched!   thumbsup  24 hours faster than 2009?!  It just doesn't seem possible.  Tour Divide seems to make everyone 20% faster in the years following.

Ethan, Jesse - hope you guys are just sleepy  sleepy1 and have a beautiful ride to the finish this morning.

Max, hopefully I'll see ya at the TH late, late tonight!  glasses2 (Drove the kids down to Grandma's in Dolores last night)

And there's another exciting race finish coming our way between Matt, Chris and Dan!  They have sub-5 day potential, which in 2007 would all be well under the course record!

Cat's Spot must be dead - I'd expect her to be somewhere on Segment 23 right now.
Thanks for the update, Eszter.

I'm personally amazed at the fairly low attrition rate so far.  A tough crew this year to be sure.

I'm willing Ethan's and Jefe's and Cat's SPOTS to update, with no luck. (and now it sounds like Cat's won't update, but she's flying)

I was frankly amazed when the 5 day barrier was broken.  4 is unreal, and to have so many contesting Owen's 2009 ride is stunning.

The rides everyone from front to back are putting down are inspirational.  Really nice photos, too Smiley  The good news is I have about a quarter century to train up to Wendy's level.

How did Ethan not make it sub 4 days?  Did he have a mechanical? Last I checked at 10pm he was 22.4 miles away. What an amazing race and finish!

after only starting to follow the CTR since last year, the underground EPICNESS of this event is something else.  Putting their bodies through living heaven and hell is nothing short of superhuman.  Congrats and mucho respect to all of you that choose to do this no matter how you finish headbang

I knew Jesse was gonna really push through after his sleep and eating, and I was not surprised to see him gain a lot of time in the final push through the high alpine hell and then the downhill to town.  My sweetie wanted to break 4 days, he does not care so much about winning.  He has said that anyone that can go faster, more power to them.  I just knew he could still reach his goal and/or break the record, which was part of the goal.  Just so happened that two other fast duded also were out there for the same reasons.

Peace Out, and good luck everyone!
