Just got off the phone with Perry Jewitt (from South Dakota).  He said he had a great ride but decided to ride down Silver Creek to Salida and pull himself out of the race.  He wanted me to tell all of his supporters he really appreciates all the support for him and he is OK other than being tired.  He was having a hard time finding water sources past Fooses Creek and he knew he wouldn't have enough calories to get him to Silverton.

Good job to Perry for a hard ride!  thumbsup  Sargents Mesa takes a lot of riders out.

I left Silverton last year at the exact same time Cat left this year.  I slept for an hour and a half out there and was pretty worked over...curious to see if she can make it in.  I bet she does.  Smiley

Funny how this years top 3 male riders are same top 3 as 2010, just different order.  I'm sensing a theme here ... like a perverse game of CT limbo on mtn bikes - the bar keeps getting set lower, and lower, and ...

Their consistency and ability to race and finish rides as big as this is very impressive. And to keep lowering the limbo bar on top of that is truly remarkable.

I think I met Jesse in Moab several years back. At another underground epic ride.

Congrats to him. I hope you heal quickly and cleanly!

For those still watching the race for 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th, it is a tenuous one!  It appears that 5th-7th (looks like they are in a group) are *slowly* making progress on Max, slowly whitling time off him.  Regardless, all four of these riders are looking strong and will probably go in under 5 days!!

Matt Schiff, Dan Miller-Lionberg and Chris are approaching Section Point:

From there they will have a view of Blackhawk Pass (just left of center) and Blackhawk Mountain (just right of center):

And once they gain Blackhawk Pass, the view looking back from whence they came. Blackhawk Mtn. is in upper left corner:

Lovely comment. Gives you something to do next year :-)

4 days is just silly.

Alan, from the UK, is doing an amazing ride as well.

Go Chris! Go Cat!

I wonder if she simply misplaced the Spot unit and didn't actually lose it...?

Wondering the same.  Sleep deprivation does funny things to ya.

Indeed.

Or maybe someone else found it and they crossed paths.

Congrats Jefe, Ethan and Jesse!  Stellar performances! I hope you boys have enjoyed a few coldies at Carvers, Ska, etc!

Also, to the other folks still out there, keep it up and great job!

Congrats to everyone finishing and still out there.

Rode Hotel Draw-Town today.  Storms came in early and things got real nasty after high point crazy downpour + hail.  Hopefully no CTR'ers ended up in that mess.

From a mid-packer...

Bodily discomfort and weather I can handle.  Mind can be shut down.  Determination and stubbornness drive me onwards.  But I could not overcome the calorie and dehydration deficit after a few days of nausea and finally the night 3 of puking.  Limped to US-50 and rode into Salida Thursday evening, sadly my race was over.

I feel for you Charlie, same thing for me!

Stay strong Nick Patzer, Nord Vrai is cheering you on!

Stefan- loved the event, concept, self-supported style race.  Nice work and your efforts are very appreciated!!
