I think she is still in Ricco recovering from altitude sickness

Well it looks like Jefe opened a gap somewhere on the last half of the Matakat road. He arrived at the CT at 1:45am or so and Jesse got to the CT at 3am. I can't imagine how they are starting to feel about now...

Not still on the ridge (like her spot says)? That would be good...

Other than a short 10 minute climb up from Bear Creek, Jefe has an all downhill and fast finish coming up. I'm guessing around 8:15 to 8:45. I know Jesse is fast but I  but catching Jefe now will be an all out push.

Well, it looks like Jefe takes the win! Huge congrats!

Absolutely incredible riding. Having finished the CTR twice should give me some perspective--but it really doesn't give me any insight into what it must take to ride as fast as Jefe. So little sleep. So little gear. So much commitment. It's a completely different event for guys like him. Inspiring and humbling.

WOWWWW! Congrats Jefe...  I cant imagine going that far, that fast, with so little gear. congrats! someone buy that man a beer or fifty!

side note, heard from my brother Bob Butrico this morning. He's doing well, legs and lungs have been hurting, but got a good night sleep last night.  Had a tire blowout yesterday near Sergents, was able to patch the tire, but it is iffy, hoping he can replace it in BV.

Stellar ride Jefe and Jesse. Mindblowing!
They're probably ready to make an 8 day loop of this thing.

Now that the Alien-Class athletes are starting to finish, we can perhaps start to shift attention over to the Mere Mortals still on the course. I'm not sure aliens even feel pain*, but being a mortal middling myself, I do know, and can appreciate, the pain and fatigue the others are experiencing. It's ironic that some of the slower, genetically challenged and less conditioned riders, who will be on the course for many additional days, might experience even more pain and have to dig way deeper than the aliens!

* Wink You know I'm just kidding, right. Or maybe aliens have pain rejectors, instead of pain receptors...

yep, we still have plenty of the Mere Mortal Class excitement to enjoy. Plus our SoBo guys are moving along swiftly. Looks like continued impeded progress at work for few more days.
