I was wondering how hard they were finding it, NoBo. I'm guessing that call-in from Max Morris says it all. What a crack-up!

Yeah, she's probably going to be fine. But she was shooting for ten days, not 25-40--which suggests that she may not have planned to spend so many days on one of the driest, highest, and most exposed sections of the trail. Carrying that much water and food would be really tough!
Considering the circumstances, I don't think that there's anything wrong with being a bit concerned...
Yes, I also clicked on her Trackleaders link this morning because I was curious how she was doing. Her progress would indicate an issue, either mechanical or physical, but she is still moving forward on the route. If she was having concerning issues, it seems more plausible that she would head back toward Durango.

Pretty impressive that Jesse didn't even stop in BV...looks like it enabled him to catch up a little to Jefe. But Jefe did stop so I would assume he has the supplies he needs to get to the end? But does Jesse?

Here's my analysis of JB and JJ last night. It can be a little hard to tell from the race flow since Jesse didn't turn his SPOT back on (or get a point) until the bottom of Fooses.
I think Jesse stopped somewhere after 11pm, still on top of the crest. Jefe continued on another hour to the bottom of the trail, before sleeping 1.5 to 2 hours. Jesse appears to have taken a longer rest, 3-4 hours, before dropping down Fooses. Jefe was 1.5 hours ahead of him at the crossing of Highway 50, due to sleeping less.
Jefe is now ~10 miles ahead, all uphill road miles. So the gap is closing. This is a good, good race developing!

wonder if the ITT'ers coming from Denver passing Jesse and Jefe right now will play a role in letting Jesse know how close he is

And I LOVE the fact that she has a whole bunch of caring eyes watching her blue dot. This is what I love about this sport.

Just talked to Stefan Griebel. His legs feel great, but he is experiencing great pain in both achilles tendons on the hiking sections. Also, his right hand is going numb, something that occurred during prior races. He plans to ride to Marshall Pass and then bail to Salida. The kids and I will drive down from Boulder to pick him up either tonight or tomorrow. Sheryl Griebel

Well, he did seem pretty excited to have been able to ride his favorite sections in the reverse direction.

Awesome, at least he's been having a good time so far. Stopping before suffering from permanent damage is a good idea. I still have a partially-numb little toe from last year, and my left wrist took six months to get back to full strength again.

Great watching! Scott are you sure JB descended fooses before the nap, it would be colder down there maybe. Just before midnight I saw JJ stopped and JB stopped four miles ahead. Anyways if this keeps up I hope the construction won't be a factor and they get equal stops. Go Dave go Tim go Cullen go Stephen go ffej go James. Edit, good call Stephen.

As someone who's watching and really interested but has a hard time figuring out what's happening, I appreciate the Paul Sherwin role you're playing here, Scott.
