Briefly spoke with Neil just now over the phone - he is positively crushing through some hard miles to the tune of red hot chili peppers. He had a solid rest last night and is feeling great. All positive thoughts! Hoping the weather isn't too wet for him over the next 200 miles!

Bummed out to report that I'm gonna have to drop out here in Buena Vista. My right Achilles' tendon flared this morning and nothing I've tried seems to get it loosen up. I fought through this last year and was pretty much ruined for two months afterwards so I guess I just don't have the courage to face the San Juans in this condition again.

I'll let this sink in and update more later. For now I'm excited to watch the race unfold between these awesome guys I've been riding with basically since the Stagestop. Shout out to Aaron, Garret, Brian, Josiah, and several others. Also to my friend Rick Miller. Hope you are all able to persevere better than I could.

Just doing some time checks. Neil just hit hwy 114 at 5:50. Comparing against 2012 he's back 3:25 from jefe, 4:15 from ethan, and 2:20 from jesse. Factoring in this years' route and a couple hundred miles to go, it means he's still moving damn fast!

I'm concerned about Barry - looks like he's enjoying some cold ones and pizza at Eddyline in BV!  Maybe I'm more jealous than concerned...  Yeah, pretty sure that's it.  Go Barry!

CTR14: Ko Saynourath called in from the Hwy 9 crossing. He’s battling a knee issue but it sounds like it might be getting better so he’s going to push over Ten Mile!

Yes he was! I was with him along with Kyle Quinn and "Dustin." Kyle and Dustin headed out and Barry took some more time to charge up and sort some stuff. He headed down to do some shopping at the market before moving on.

Also wanted to report that Bryan Klahn is riding very strong up in the group near Garret Alexander and Aaron Boatman. I know he got to Buena Vista around noon yesterday.

He is bummed because his spot is not tracking and he was under the impression that he would not receive an official result since he can't verify his route. He said he signed up for trackleaders but its just not tracking.

I had been riding near him since we hid under the bridge @ Tarryall Road and I can say for sure that he is following the entire route.

For any of Bryan's friends wondering how he is doing..... he is highly motivated and killing it!

Anybody know what's up with Chris Hall?  Looks like his SPOT hasn't updated in couple days and still shows him near Michael Bowen on the Tarryall detour.

Spots aren't required to get an official finish. As long as Bryan has some way to demonstrate that he completed the route, Stefan will probably count it--at least he has in the past. Since Bryan has been riding with other people, they can vouch for him. Photos, GPS logs, etc. are good too if there are any questions. I think that only one guy has ever been disqualified for not being able to verify his ride--and that is because several other riders, including me, reported him for cutting the course by taking long car rides.

So tell Bryan to take photos, keep his GPS log, make friends, and ride hard. He's going to be fine!

I think Bryan's Spot may be tracking as Dave Stewart. I know he was barely in front of me at Searle Pass & Mt. Elbert Trailhead. I don't remember meeting Dave out there or in the group with us that was heading out of Leadville.

Checking the splits... the Dave Stewart splits jive exactly with what I would expect to see for Bryan Klahn.

I apologize if I am wrong but it really looks like Bryan Klahn is tracking as Dave Stewart.

Well after battling a cracked rear rim(next to the valve stem on the inside)and countless attempts to fix it,I'm out!I went through 12 Co2 cartridges and three tubes, refilling every 40min or so.This started to happen just before Wellington Lake.It was so frustrating trying to get into a groove then have to stop and put air in the tire.My goal was to finish Sat(Work) and with all the waiting around(Breck-Copper)it just wasn't going to happen.Tough decision.I really felt great, no health issue's out there.Such a fun ride out there, when all was going good, and thanks to all who stopped to help and deal with my frustration.Sorry for the Spot issues as well,I put new batteries in twice and all would seem fine and then I would check to see if I was tracking and the unit would be off(No clue on that one).I have a cool GO-Pro video that I shot on Stoney Pass of that major T-Storm that pinned a few riders down.I was in my bivy sack for 1hr15min.Never seen lighting like that in my life. The static was unreal.Thought for sure that I was going to get hit.Scary how Mother Nature can be sometimes.Be safe and see ya next year in Durango!

I hope everything's ok with Josiah, just saw he started moving this morning after a long 9+ hour stop. His last couple of points have him backtracking and now going off route. He was riding really strong too and highest ranked non-CO rider.

Neil continues to charge ahead! It looks like he stopped for about 3 hr last night and then kept moving.

Yeah, doesn't look good for Josiah.  It looks like he is headed back to BV on the road.  Hope he is Ok.  He was having a great ride.
