I sure wish I could be up there. Alas, someone has to keep the doors open down here in town. I think Joe from MTBCast will be there though, along with Neil's girlfriend!

What stupid sign? Someone sharpie an arrow pointing the wrong way?
There used to be an old CT sign that incorrectly pointed up the road. I thought that somebody finally ripped it out, but the recent route errors make me think that maybe it's still there. If so, I will rip the damn thing out myself next year!

Ha! Indeed. Nice work Neil...impressive show to say the least. Next potential finisher is a solid 80 miles away in Silverton...that is some lead he built up!

Just got back from congratulating Neil and handing him a New Castle. He seemed to be in terrific spirits and looked as if he had just been out riding for a couple of hours, not going through the hell it must have been out there at times. Incredible. He was icing his knee and chowing down pizza. by Bedrock Bags, on Flickr Andrew

I hope that Neil's greeting party has lots of ice. A bag for his knee--and another for his beer!
Yeah, Lindsay had a bag of ice ready!

Good work, player. Strong strong work. There are just so many factors that go into the CTR. Great job dealing with them!

Damn Neil - it takes me that long to get to HWY 50 You see these pics of him at the end and think, man it looks so easy...and to most people it probably does. But we know how effin hard this thing is, hell I've tried twice and lost the battle. Guess I'll have to try again...thanks to this inspiring finish!

So I'm confused - Karlos seems to think he was racing in the CTR, yet he was taking handouts and riding with friends from the start. And only now at this point - after his detour - does he seem to think he wouldn't be considered a finisher...but would still be considered a CT finisher? Are people thinking they can just use the CTR tracker as a way to track their thru ride (another ITT'r took US-285 instead of Tarryall and was for a fact 'not racing' - according to his bike shop employer)? Is that acceptable? Is it just me that has questioned Karlos' 'ITT' from the start? I don't want to take away from his effort - I am just questioning his entry into this race.
