Thanks for the links,
I have this GPX downloaded already, I wasn't certain that any of the previous GPX's would be considered the "offical" 2018 route GPX.
Have a great day!

Anyone have any experience doing the CTR plant based/vegan....in good time...without USPS package drops?
I've done fine in the past fueling on jars of peanut butter and whole wheat tortillas (both easy to pack and calorically dense), along with whatever I carry from home. My stomach's also pretty darn good at handling crappy food while exercising (ie. I've done 12hr races on oreos, coke and donuts....no problem)
I think I'll be fine doing that from Waterton to Leadville/BV area, but I'm a little weary of what to expect at Mt Princeton, or late night gas station in BV if I don't time it right and the city market's not open. I'm also 6'5, which means I gotta eat a ridiculous amount of food to keep myself going. On a 4-5 day pace I'm estimating at least a day and a half, probably more between BV & Silverton, or 15k+ calories....? Thoughts? What can I expect at Mt Princeton...I've driven through there before a few times but never stopped in the town.
With that said, I'm not super duper hardcore. I'm not turning down a cinnamon roll if it *might* have eggs/butter in it, especially if I'm starving. But don't want to go the beef jerky route, especially cause I have no idea how I'd handle meat after not eating it for a long time.

Tracking map (with a question mark on Molas->Durango) is up: http://trackleaders.com/ctr1839 signed up so far minus 3 ITTs = 36 of 74 available tracking registrations taken as of today. I'm curious it the trail will open up, or what alternate might occur! Time will tell.

Trail question.... in the beginning of section 12, the CT Databook differs from the posted route on the tracking page ( http://trackleaders.com/ctr18). It's my guess that the CTR18 tracking page follows a paved road, correct? I see in the CT Databook the "bikes" prohibited sign...does that apply to the whole section? How do I read/interpret that? Is the databook info just a reference guide, while the GPX is the actual trail that needs to be followed? (Sorry for all the questions...noobie)

(Sorry for all the questions...noobie) Not sure exactly what the databook says but the GPX file should precisely define the route racers should take. There are pieces of segment 12 and others that are technically open to bikes and could be ridden, but they don't make any sense for a thru-route. I believe that's maybe what you are seeing?

Kuzco - Follow the GPX route, which has the wilderness detour. As you will note on the CTR website ( www.climbingdreams.net/ctr), it has the course description. It state that after riding Segment 11 (Halfmoon Creek to Clear Creek Road): " Collegiate Peaks Wilderness Detour - Left for 3 mi. on Clear Creek Road, right for 5.9 mi. on US-24, left on Rd-371 for 10 mi. on old railroad grade to B.V. Right on Main, across US-24 at light which becomes Rd-306 (Cottonwood Pass Road for 10 mi. to Avalanche TH. This is mile 6.6 of Segment 13. Avalanche Trailhead to Saguache Park Road - Ride the remainder of Segment 13, then ride Segments 14, 15, 16, 17 and 18. Leave segment 18 at Saguache Park Road to start the La Garita Detour. Note: 7th edition and older guidebooks start the next detour at Cochetopa Pass Rd., but you will ride an extra 6.5 miles along the CT to Saguache Park Road, as indicated in the 8th edition guidebook." So, after you reach Clear Creek Road (which is the end of Segment 11), you will exit the CT to start the wilderness detour by turning left on Clear Creek Road and ride the road for 3 miles, then follow the above directions which take you into downtown Buena Vista via roads, then you take Main Street (which becomes Rd 306/Cottonwood Pass Road) to the Avalanche TH, which is mile 6.6 of Segment 13, then jump back onto the CT and continue on Segment 13. Of course, Scott has the final say!

The 2018 .gpx is unchanged from 2016/17, so grab it from Toby's blogpost here: http://tobygadd.blogspot.com/2012/01/colorado-trail-race-gpsgpx-tracks-and.htmlSorry for the confusion everyone.

And it's full. I'll keep track of any drops (please let me know if you are dropping or know of any) so we can get last minute folks in if possible.
I spent the weekend within spitting distance of Spring Creek Pass and.... it rained most of the afternoons and evenings, as it tends to this time of year!

Hey Everyone,
Just want to confirm I'm giving the correct info to my pick-up. The finish where folks gather on the occasion is at the actual C.T Trailhead and not the Junction Creek Campground, correct?
Thanks in advance
