I know this is a bit early, but the Dixie 200 was the most memorable ride I did last year and I fully plan to do it again this year.  Anyone else in?

Dave, what are the chances of changing the start date from June 20 to June 19?  A Friday start is just WAY better (for me at least) and I would like to be part of the group this year instead of doing an ITT.

Work got in the way last year. It's on my short list if my travel schedule will allow. (I'm a strong maybe)

Unless work changes things up on me, I am in for this year.

A) I would like to second Erin's idea of maybe moving the start date?  Any chance?

B) I have read Erin's write up (with great photos), can anyone point to other blogs/write ups for me to read instead of doing work in the office?

I am hoping to finally make this one, this year.

I would prefer starting on the Friday too, only for selfish reasons as this would let me avoid Vegas traffic driving out the night before.   glasses2

Sweet!  I think I'm in again after a hiatus last year.  Such a fun route

I had a great time in what I did get to ride last year before a knee injury forced me out. I did get back in the fall to ride the Dixie Lite route. I plan to be there and should be able to start either day. Count me in!

For past blogs, do a Google  search for Dixie 311, not Dixie 200. The original route was 311 miles. I have heard that one was really tough.

I am almost for sure in this year again.  I have some picture from when Scott and I toured the Dixie Lite route last fall on my website at BarFlyBags.com

I would like to ride the Dixie route.  My buddy Eric Foster and I tried to ride it in July a few years ago and the mud was thick.  I rode through one of the most violent storm cells ever which forced me off my bike and to cower for cover.  The flooding was pretty intense.  I think June is a great time to run this.  My daughter may be with me for June but I would like to make it out for the Dixie Light.  Not too far from Flagstaff.  I'm a maybe.

I hope to make the group start this year. This has been on my bucket list for awhile. Time to make it happen!
See you all in June!

My first baby is set to arrive any day now, and I've been thinking that would keep me out of the bikepacking events this summer, but I can't seem to get this one off the brain. We had a tour planned last fall but we got rained out.

Think I'll see if I can work this one in.

A Friday start is ok with me. Would the start time change cause anyone issues? I've only heard positive feedback for it thus far.

Nice to see the increased interest this year. For those wanting more blogs/background try https://www.google.com/search?q=site%3A2-epic.com+dixie and https://www.google.com/search?q=site%3Abikepacking.net+dixie for most of what has happened here and on 2-epic.com.

I know you all have had a pretty snowless winter down there... When do you think the course will be snowless?

It's hard to say when the snow will all melt out - current trends indicate all but the Brian Head area will be snowless in about 3 weeks. Big spring storms can change the outlook quickly. I never count on the Brian Head area before June and in 2011 it was still snowy in July. Snowpack is really feeble right now tho, weakest I've seen since moving here.

http://goo.gl/XmxJCy is where to check modeled conditions. As a general rule, you want an area to be snow free *on that map* for 2 weeks before going. Also keep in mind snow is not necessarily the biggest early season show-stopper on the Dixie Wink For entertainment look at that map for current conditions, then change the year to 2011 & redraw.

I'm in for a friday start. I've got a score to settle after last year and got even more psyched about the route after a fall tour of the Dixie Lite with Soft Pedal from Barfly Bags.

My wife and I are looking at doing this at a touring pace. We will pretty much keep moving all day, but don't want to ride in the dark unless we have to. I want to see the country we are riding through.  Does 4 days seem reasonable for that? I'm thinking 55 miles a day would leave us with an easyish last day.For context, we finished the AZT300 in a little over 4 days, but we rode in the dark some. Don't really want to do that on this trip.

The only part of this area we've ridden is Thunder Mountain, so we aren't quite sure what to expect in terms of making time over the course. Then there is the elevation...
