Looks like I have one. last. purchase. to make...which will probably lead to 90 more purchases for the Tour Divide :/ (boy this is getting expensive).
Okay, which one has served you better? The eWerk or the Plug ii? Also, I have a Revo Exposure light I'm using so I need to know how some of you guys have spliced it with a switch or hot swapped. My thought was just to hot swap and put a protective cap over the plug not being used down at the Shimano Alfine hub.

Scott,
I recently bought The Plug and have been using since, it's great. One thing though; your fork has to have a hole going through the crown, so a carbon fork like the Nine won't work. The wires from the Plug go through there. I'm running an Supernova E-3 Triple light and I just spliced the wires to the Plug's wires, works great. Also had my GPS hooked up to it and had both the light and GPS device running off the hub, supposedly you can only use one device at a time. Go figure. I haven't tried charging my iPhone yet but I don't think it'll be an issue. I don't know squat about the E-Werk so I can't compare them, I like the Plug cause it's so small and compact. Supernova is also one of my sponsors :-) so I get a good deal. Hope that helps some.

Have you considered the new B&M Lumotec IQ2 Luxos light? The one version has a usb port so that you can charge off of it or run it as a light. Not too much more than the ewerk cost-wise, and you get a good light out of the deal as well. If I were setting up for the TD, I would seriously consider that setup. Downside is that it was just released, so getting your hands on one may be tough.

I do use a sponsored (got it job wise for testing) Luxos on my Winter-Road-Racer and will switch it to my TD-Bike in April ... lots of light ... even if you climbing a hill slow or even walking, and USB gives a lot of energy to GPS, ipod, Camera a.s.o. while day-light-riding!
Cheers

@MM, can you charge and use the light simultaneously? Not on the docket for at least a year financially, but I really would love to eventually go to a hub generator system, and the combo (from a very good manufacturer) has my eye.

sthig - why did you go for the plug when you stated earlier you have no holes in your forks? I am asking as I have the same issue of charging 2 items from a Exposure Revo and seen The Plug today. But i have Niner rigid forks. Wondered how you got round it.

Sthig, what devices are you going to be charging with the plug? I have one and it will only charge my GPS but not Motorola Defy/Cache battery. I'm a bit disappointed so far. Tout Terrain are of the opinion that it's the external devices' fault because it tries to draw more than 0.5A current...

Tout Terrain are of the opinion that it's the external devices' fault because it tries to draw more than 0.5A current...
To be fair, that is to spec for a USB charging port (for a communication port, I believe the spec is higher). It would be nice if Tout Terrain could have over-done it, but 500mA at 5V is already operating near the edge of the power current dynohubs put out (3W@6V). In short, until the hub makers crank up power output from the hub (which your legs will need to match), it would be difficult to get higher current (without any power loss in current rectification and voltage regulation, the max current would be 600mA)

Just tried the Plug with a GoalZero Guide 10 Plus battery pack... another no-go. On GoalZero's page it says that the input is 650mA, but on the package it said 1A... I'll give it one last try with the Voltaic battery As a side note, Tout Terrain mentioned something about releasing an external battery pack to somehow address this issue.

I'm really frustrated with GoalZero... their advertising is misleading and it's just frustrating.
my alfine pumps out 6, I think the voltaic should work - will test later.

wait - upon more research, the voltaic can be charged by a 2w or 4.5w solar panel, surely a 6w alfine hub would do the same? I'm getting it all put together this week, will report back
