I could be down for this. My decision will be more of a gametime one, but I'm giving it 73%- I'm in.

Rookie on the divide. Will be living in vail, reloading after some touring abroad. Couldn't pull it together in time for this years race but a fall (arguably a more logical time of year for the ride) ride sounds nasty (bad as in good). How many were thinking of riding? All of you looking to keep a race pace?

After writing all that down I would now put myself at a 74%. Will work on getting the kit dialed until then.

ouch. greyhound not known for reliability. I hope it works out for you. I'll cheer you on when you roll through the boat.

"Divided We Fall", maybe too clever?

just humorous sarcasm as a means to attracting attention.(matador attracting the bulls metahor) Not driving a wedge....just cracking myself up. In the end, as I have said before this is just meant to be a loose assemblage of ITT'ers. Craig used the term"mutually beneficial racing." I couldn't have said it any better. The event need not have an official name-probably better that way for now.

Dave that sucks! I've been following your situation, it's horrible to have a bike go missing, especially one that has so much thought and customization. I hope it shows up soon. If it doesn't work out, it would be great to have you join us in Banff in august.

A few of us have talked.....Aug. 27th, 2011 ITT "mass" start @ 6 or 7 am -even if it's only 2 or 3 of us...perhaps the route will be melted by then...

Erik

Thanks for the invite Eric...my intention is to be going solo, but now I wonder should I chase or be chased...was planning on leaving earlier but due to technology and all the split time recordings which help steer and encourage people, looks like I am leaning on chasing...time will tell...have a good run!

That sounds like a great idea! The weather in the fall is much better than early summer. Too bad my vacation is used up. Maybe next year. Anyone else thinking of 2012 late summer divide run?
Have fun people! I'll be watching.

With the Conchas fire, I might be later as well.  Hmmmm.  I can always take those fall classes later.

Being chased could provide extra fuel for the afterburner.

Well, I plan to start on August 18th, so maybe y'all will catch up to me. Most likely in fact. So see you there.

I'm thinking of starting in Whitefish October 1st or shortly thereafter. If I can I'll move it up. But I think it's likely that if anything it'll move back.

BTW, my objective is not really to race it. Just fast and light touring. But I am hoping to average 100 miles a day. Would love to do the an official IIT border to border. Was thinking of riding up to the U.S. canada border just to aclimatize/warm up anyway. Anyone know if you can still do an official U.S. border to border IIT anymore?  I don't see why not, just noone's bothered recently I think.

Also is MTBcast doing the call in thing for ITTr's?  If so is anyone planning on using it?  I think... I've probably listened to every single MTBcast call in for the last three years at least 4 times, perhaps some many many more. LOL. It's an invaluable source of information and streams right to my android phone. I just put it on while driving or riding.  The thing I find is the more I know about the route the more I get out of it. Each time it's something new. What's more I'm sure it's going to hugely elevate my ride as I roll through all those places I've heard about the last three years.

Peace!

I plan on posting here or MTB cast, but only for the use of letting SBounders know of any trail conditions i can fore warn.  Wouldn't mind info from the other direction, but this will be mostly what i can find from an occasional public/bikeshop Internet connection.  Personal info for friends will probably go up on a social webpage.
FYI: Carson NF has lifted their travel ban right now (south of Platoro).  Santa fe NF still has major route closure with Conchas fire @ 90%.  For anyone on route.

Just a heads up to all you Aug/fall ITTers out there.  According to the local paper, the Goat Creek trail is closed.  The trail starts just 6 miles in to the GDMBR (for SoBo) and goes to mile 12.  There was apparently a failure at one of the dams upstream that has lead to excessive errosion and structural damage to the bridge over the spray river.  There was no mention of when the trail may open, but TransAlta (the hydro company) has stated they may not finish their repairs to the dam until end of Aug or early Sept.  Also no mention of when Parks Canada will attempt to repair the bridge.

If I hear more, I will post it up.
