Hey guys!

Are the updated files up on Topofusion with Mr. Lee's new additions? I am super curious to see what they look like.

Thanks!

I tell ya to the tecnho phobe this whole thing is like hearing someone talk about calculus, it makes my brain hurt. I know how to use my GPS to follow a track, but the whole topofusion-google earth-upload tracks, I never get. I don't have a home computer so it makes it hard to hang out and just play with. Ugh! Sometimes this whole thing seems a bit too complicated, but it sure does work on the trail. Any one have advice on this for a moron like me? Jefe

Always more questions! Do some GPS's use the same card, ie if I take two GPS, one for back up, can I swap the card and have the same track? Or do I need to upload each one? Not sure where the upload goes, into the unit or the card. I have a garmin 60csx and may get a Garmin Vista HCX as back up. And can you really fit it all on there, all 2700 miles?

EMathy -- no updates to the track yet.  The site will reflect the change (with a new date/version) when the update is out.

Jefe -- this may or may not help:

As for where the track goes... it depends.  On your GPS (60csx) the track is in the GPS itself, not the card.  But some of the newer ones you can store a bunch of tracks on the card and have them available.

If you shipped a spare GPS or something you could make sure both are loaded with the track...

My Garmin Dakota  with the handlebar mount is the only thing I use now.  Day rides in France, long trips, it is worth finding or making a tracklog, then you can just ride without messing with maps or trail markers.

The topofusion track I loaded for last summer's Colorado -New Mexico ride was spot on, and much more detailed than the Adventure cycling track.

Jefe:  To paraphrase Driving Miss Daisy "I've taught some of the stupidest people to use tracklogs"  Actually they were all pretty smart, and I'm sure you are too.  They all learned the basics of Mapsource and Google earth quickly, and it is time well spent.

FREE topo maps for the entire route can be found at:

Along with some good tutorials.
