A GPS track is what we'll be following. I'm going to take basically what I'll be taking on the TDR next year. You could go ultra light and not take a sleeping bag, and other typical bikepacking stuff but I'm using this event as practise for the TDR.
The Route is 1250 km long and has 18000 meters of climbing. In the northern part the country side is pretty flat but I've heard that there is sand. One woman did it last year on a pugsly. Resupplying shouldn't be a problem, as ther are towns near the route, you'd just have to go a little ways off route sometimes, that's why if you don't want to you could sleep in a motel/Pension every night. Water won't be a problem either, Germany has water up the wahoo!! ;-) I would treat stream water before I drank it though. That's about all I know about it. I'll post more as get the info. Also, I'll post my set-up when I get it ready.

Thanks for the clairification. I've seen a few rotors at local races, nice bikes. Have you done or are you planning to do the GST? Or is the TDR your goal this year? |

Mixed feelings about this...
I was glad to leave triathlon behind because of the pretentious "athletes" who would track, upload, and then send links to every man and his dog via email and facebook about all the training they were doing. Personally, not taking a Garmin out on a ride with HR, Speed, Distance, cadence...etc was simply more fun and rather liberating.
I fear that the spot is a rather similar type thing. I have nothing against people having them, I guess I have lost my competitiveness. The sense of accomplishment is enough for me, I dont want to track it, relive it, share it, plot it, twitter it.
However, I DO like the idea of an "emergency beacon" for when s&*t hits the proverbial fan.
Sorry for the rather long ramblings of a newbie.
