Ray Porter recently received a stunning diagnosis of cancer. Cholangiocarcinoma, a rare type that affects the bile ducts, liver, and kidneys. Ray is a veteran of Tour Divide ('09 and '11) and a few TNGA's, as well as countless single-day events. Ray is receiving the best care possible from Baylor in Dallas. There are two ways I know of to help relieve the strain on him and his wife Gina: 1. http://www.gofundme.com/5ga67s2. A wristband campaign on Facebook, search "Wristbands for Ray". Three ways: Prayers and well-wishes. Ray is surrounded by a very supportive cyclo-community in Dallas. Please let's show Gina and Ray that the love runs deep!

I've never met Ray but my thoughts go out to him, his family and his friends. Fight the good fight Ray. Best of luck to you.

Ray is out of the hospital and resting at home. His wife, Gina, set up a Caringbridge site http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/rayporter. Ray is now in hospice.

The Pilot
It is a vast open place where the eagles soar. Flying high above this beautiful land that we adore.
It is this beauty and glory that keep you flying. As time slows down and the wind keeps you gliding.
In this time a sense of peace and tranquility amass. A calm so serene that only heaven can surpass.
As you look down now you must be elated. You can now see the entirety of what God has created.
As we look up to the sky we are smiling too. For we know one day we will share the same view.
So keep on soaring and watching from above. Forever touching the lives of the ones you love.

Tough as nails, Ray, and always a gentleman and great friend on the trail. Absolutely determined to ride his best every day out there, and a model of all the best that TD brings out of people. Ride on Ray!
