Being pretty busy the last two weeks, I dropped the ball on renting a SPOT and as of this morning they're all out. Anyone in the Ft. Collins (where I'm from) or Denver area have an extra or not racing this year and it's set up to go. Send me a message and we'll talk price and details.

They're $100 @ REI, plus I think the annual fee for tracking service is $150.  Still cheaper than the entry fee for some shorter adventure races or things like the Elk Range Grand Traverse...

Hope you can round one up.

Edit:  Just saw that the Breck Epic is $995 for about half the riding of the CTR.  Of course, I think you get a number plate, T-shirt, and a free massage for that though...  :-)
