I will be headed up that way on Thursday, and could easily swing by the airport for a rider or two before heading up the mountain.

And if somebody flies into LAX (10 miles from my house), room for a few more people to Idyllwild on Thursday (I'm leaving by 2 or 2.30 before traffic gets crazy).

Hey guys I just got back from a pre race shakedown ride.  450 miles of glory in the Northern California coastal mountains. Check it out.  http://bit.ly/I1UZ2U

Brilliant trip! Great adventure ride.

The only dirt stretches on your trip I've ridden is Carrizo Plains (both directions) and found it a bit tedious (a loop is about 70 miles or so, just flat sandy dirt road). But on your trip might have been a more interesting break from mountains.

I have always been deterred from crossing Los Padres because there seems to be no good way to loop without doing long stretches on the 33 as the wilderness areas close off alternatives.

I'll also make myself available Thursday for a run to airport in Palm Springs. I'll be rolling our Subaru, unless I can get my hands on a bigger people hauler.

Also-- parking in Idyllwild continues to be a head scratcher. There aren't any viable spots coming to mind, but we'll have to come up with something. We can stash a few at our house, and a few at the Siren shop for starters.
