Cricket Butler and Stephen Huddle are heading into the Flathead!
I had some communication w/Stephen before his start. I think he and Cricket wanted to stick together through the Canadian Flathead section then head out on their own.

The past three weeks have been absolutely amazing and I can't express how lucky I feel to have been able to take part in the race. I'm looking forward to spending my recovery time watching the remaining blue dots make their way down (or up) the course.

Awesome ride Ben!!

This one is for the Trackleaders site admin. Is it possible to correct Cricket's stats? Unfortunately, the riders following the standard route show up as 'off route' and their miles per day averages and such are way off. I realize this may not be possible and I can always do the math myself. I'm pulling for Cricket as she tries to set the womens record in a not so ideal year. Thanks for all of your hard/relentless work. BTW--While following the Hurrican 300 on your site, I shared the site with a fellow teacher who used it in one of his statistics classes. We were all impressed by the data you provide and amazed that it is a free site. Thanks a bunch.

A suggestion for Matthew Lee; ACA and Mike McCoy:
The Flathead section of the Canadian TD/GDMBR was a welcome addition. I rode that route on tour off pavement directly North from Glacier NP several times in the late 1980's. I was dismayed to see the closure of the Trail Creek International Border Crossing along the Flathead River due to 9/11 terrorist concerns. Re-opening the Trail Creek crossing would eliminate almost all of the paved sections of the Canadian route and from the first US section to near Whitefish. A more wonderfully direct and scenic route than the current one.
This is only wishful thinking knowing the political obstacles and fear factors controlling politicians but it would greatly enhance the off pavement aspect of that part of the route. If you have any political clout please apply it to enacting this idea.

Long time listener, first time caller. I stumbled upon this incredibly beautiful 22 minute doc on the flathead valley while following the race this year (timely). It's thesis is flora/fauna conservation and protecting the flathead from potential coal mining. Given that part of the reason to include the flathead in the TD route was to draw attention to such a pristine and magnificent area, I thought you fellow race followers would enjoy it in between blog reading/blue-dot following. Some of the images captured of the native inhabitants in the doc inspired chills down my spine. I'm sure many are already aware that it exist, but just in case, here is the link:

Looks like Cricket and Stephen are having their lunch break at Butts Cabin. Good plan to ride the Flathead together - it's not a good place to be alone in case of mechanicals or illness/accident.

It looks like they are about to encounter their first lengthier and deeper snow sections.

Take the time to do the same.

Snow may not be that much of any issue, as they're making good time, just now cresting Cabin Pass at 2:45p local. It will be interesting to see where they stop tonight. Just short of Galton, or up and over to the border? Up the wigwam and over Galton should have more snow due to north-facing aspect. I'm glued to their progress.

Justin's driver pulled over as they passed me on the highway and I spoke with him briefly; it was awesome to finally see him in person again after having something like two dozen waitresses and convenience store clerks tell me that he had stopped in before me. He told me that there were a few folks waiting up for Dejay at Antelope Wells and that I might get some of their beer if I hurried. That pretty much kept me going all the way to the end, and I was rewarded with the best tasting lukewarm Tecate I've ever had. Thanks Dejay!

It was great to see you again! I had been riding alone since wise river. When I saw how close you were behind me in Silver City I almost waited up for you. Well played race. I knew since Holland Lake that you were a strong rider. Congrats!

Thanks again to everybody involved with the race, all the fans, the support from awesome businesses along the route, and my family and friends for the support.
It was incredible. I can't wait to come back!

If you were thinking Justin S was slacking yesterday think again. Here in Summit we had some REO Speed Wagon type storms and our first evening rain since last summer to follow up the storm.

And up in the engine, Dejay pulled in to Antelope Wells station at about 2am! Ben and Justin Voss are in the coal car not far behind about to finish. Toooot Toooot! Engines, Coal Car, Caboose... I love it. It fits the TD perfectly. E

WOW! What an exciting race has been unfolding for Dylan and Lukas this afternoon! Mostly it has looked like leapfrog, just depending on whose time was updated most recently! It has been a major treat to see all the riders over the last three weeks, and look forward yo seeing all the riders finish! Right now, I'm on the edge of my seat, waiting to see if DT or LA gets there first!

Hey there Dylan's mom! I had the pleasure of cruising with Dylan the first 10 days or so before I dropped, a cool cat indeed. I would wager that the two are finishing together, I am super excited to see Dylan finish around 21 days, nearly 4 days ahead of his original goal of 25, pretty cool (OUTSTANDING). I certainly would like give props where needed to Dylan as a trans am rider, CTR racer, and now a full fledged TD racer, NICE WORK DYLAN!

Hi, Nathan Dylan seemed to thoroughly enjoy riding with you! We were both bummed when you left, and it seemed that it took him a while to find his rhythm after that. It is unimaginable to me how hard this race is, physically and motivation-wise. It must be wonderful to know that each day, you will ride. Probably less than wonderful at times, as well!.... It certainly helped him to know you were cheering him on, and we laughed about your, "Wolverine...." message! You guys are a breed unto yourselves, and a very healthy lot, as well! Cheers! I think you were right- they came in very close, as if together!
