Awesome race. It's Game-On!
Looks like KR is still on the move and killing it. He's just about to catch DB.
JB is just a machine on the SS and is chasing KR down.

Mind bending move by Kurt! Can he really skip a night's rest and keep it rolling...after nearly a week of action? I was expecting that at the NM border...like tossing spaghetti at the wall to see if it will stick Paul put down a real climbfest in the last 24 hours! Brilliant race so far for blue dot junkies!

Mind bending move by Kurt! Whoa, I'm floored! This is what my Mom always called, "burning your candle at both ends". Apparently Kurt has a really big candle...

JB is just a machine on the SS and is chasing KR down. Race Flow is showing JB has a lower average speed since starting out, but KR is gonna have to stop to sleep sometime...

Does someone have the link to the smart phone TD tracking app? I think it only exists for the droid but not for the iphone?

About to post some calls but want everyone to know that Rob Roberts taco'd his wheel and blackened his eye in a crash on Fleecer. You'll see him head back to Butte.

Go Kurt!
To quote one of my favorite Paul Sherwen phrases, "He's put the cat amongst the pigeons with this move!"

Oh no! Was wondering what he was doing at the bottom of that downhill. But Rob (aka Cyborg) will go on somehow I am sure... DO IT, Rob!

http://bluedot.mobi/ explains it a bit, or you can go straight to the app with Fixie's link. It works on iOS devices just fine

Norb DeKerchove called in from Butte. JP Evans called in from Butte. He’s riding with someone…from somewhere. Sheila Torres-Blank called in from Lincoln. Ray Porter called in from Butte. Jefe Branham called in from Jackson wondering if he went the right way. Jeffrey Tomassetti called in from Bannack State Park. And Rob Roberts called in from near Wise River. As Jeffrey mentioned on his call, Rob taco’d his wheel and blackened his eye in a crash on Fleecer! You can get the audio here, via RSS, or on iTunes!

I heard from my hubby tonight via email. He is in Platoro, Co staying in a cabin. His tracker batteries are dead. I was so surprised to hear that he made it into Co after tracking backwards to find his tracker. Go Pete!!
Here in Helena, we've been tracking the SOBO riders, since they've been coming through since Sunday. But I'll be watching for Pete (and the rest of the NOBOs) again! We literally live on the route. It's pretty darn cool.

A question for the TD veterans here: We live on the route in Helena, just as you leave the south edge of town. I love to watch the SPOTs and, when I can, head outside to yell encouragement to riders passing by. Do the riders welcome that, or is it a little scary to know people are following their SPOTs that closely?

Ethan stayed at a little hotel in Tetonia last night after getting off the rail-trail. That little hotel and resturant doesn't see much business but I think the 2 stretches of rail-trail is enough that guys are going to take the first thing they see instead of doing the 7 ish miles to Driggs. (by the way. driggs has 2 bike shops, grocery store...) It's not easy to do an all nighter on the TD because it's hard to see what you are running over, ect. Dose off for a second and pot hole, downed tree, or a dry truck rut (got me many times!) and you hit hard. However, Kurt, faced with a couple hundred miles of paved road, decided to crank it out last night without sleeping. Ballsie move and the perfect opportunity to do a long night of pedaling plus wind avoidance. He has to be aching all over right now from no sleep and a week of racing. He is currently climbing out of the Hoback River valley onto the high desert plains of wind and huge antelope herds. Soon he will be sitting at the Wrangler in Pinedale eating pancakes that hang over the side of the plate. They fill your coffee after every sip too. Then the ride along the beautiful Wind River range where the Oregon trail and pony express riders once raced across the sage.
On a single speed, Jefe may find the road not much fun. (of course you don't do the TD to ride roads...) There is always "some" wind in that area. On a SS you just spin out with a tail wind while geared guys can get on the big ring and fly. But he had good rest so maybe he will "zone out" while gazing upon the Wyoming and Gros Ventre mountains. Bondurant area is a beautiful place. Usually the route takes riders on the other side of the Gros Ventre on the famed Union Pass. Ethan, who got a good rest should have a big mile day.
I'll try to give a report from some chasers later today.

Some of them may be in that spot where they haven't talked to people in a few days or they're just focused but I'm sure they welcome the encouragement.

I know riders have noted in the past how surprised they were to see people who called out their name. I recall one year when a few racers stopped at a local pub or restaurant. Some folks were sitting outside and ask if they were so-and-so from the Tour Divide. I think they liked that. I know Jill was flagged down by name once and given some food.

I was flagged down by Kirsten at the Brush Mountain Lodge in Slater, Colorado. She flags down all the Divide riders who are naive enough not to have heard of her and her wonderful establishment first (I was in this group.)
