Overnight: Kim Raeymaekers called in from the finish in Deming. Martin Wimpenny called in from Silver City. Cricket Butler called in from Seely Lake. Stephen Huddle called in from Seely Lake. Roland Sturm called in from just inside Canada where he’s taking the main route.

And Mark Erhart called in from Grants this morning.

Well the snow near Seeley slowed Cricket down and forced a night at Seeley Lake. That puts her about 100 miles short of the 140m/day pace that she needs to finish in 20 days. Hopefully, she'll crank out a 150-170 mile day and begin to get back on pace.

The terrain over the next couple of days is not conducive to big miles, but later on she can definitely make it up!

Go Cricket and Stephen!!

Yep. A lot of climbing and some snow. Do you happen to know the mileage from Banff to Lincoln via the standard route?

I added Cricket and Stephen to the divide "general" tracker:

http://trackleaders.com/divide

It's got the standard route on it, so will tell you what route mile they are at and some more accurate stats, hopefully.  Still no leaderboard or anything since it's not a race tracker, but it might help.  There are a few other folks out touring the route being tracked there too.

The Sheilas called in from between Cuba and Grants where they got a gift! Jeffrey Tomassetti called in from his finish. And Greg McKennis called in from his finish.

Longtime lurkmeister here -
I just got my copy of The Cordillera, and Yea!, Jon Billman is still in it!

And while I'm finally posting something (I should have done this much sooner): A giant thank you to all racers for the excitement and inspiration you've provided!

Cricket took a super short break in Lincoln and is cranking out the climbs. She may just reach mile 700 and thus be on a 140m/day pace by the end of today. Impressive!  headbang icon_biggrin thumbsup I guess the question becomes whether she'll ride late in order to reach Helena and a warm hotel, or get stuck in a cold bivvy sack for the night.

1st day Sparwood - 140 miles
2nd day Grave Creek - 136 miles
3rd day Swan River - 119 miles
4th day Seeley Lake - 103 miles
5th day if they make Helena - 125 miles

Total would be 623 miles = 124.6 miles/day average.

Current Women's record = 24.3 days = 113 miles/day average.

I think I have all the math right.

For Jeff Tomassetti:  JP Evans and his wife are driving to El Paso tomorrow, but staying in Deming (east of you tonight).  They are at Denny's in Lourdsburg (sp) right now (5pm), so best is if you can hook up with them now.  They're going back down to AW in a bit to pick up Tori (and probably Martin can be convinced to join them).  JP's phone number is:  1 972 571 6127.  Please call him if you're still looking for a ride.  Great job by the way!

Impressive indeed!!  thumbsup thumbsup thumbsup  If she can keep it up and if the main route opens up in the NM fire area she could take the Women's record away from Jill and then Jill would have to return next year to defend.  Wink
