Here's a photo of the balloon finish line that Crazy Larry put up.  Ross hammed it up for him as he came across.

Justin Simoni called in from Cuba. And Markus Meier called in from his finish. I may have (and likely do) this name wrong. "Markus Meier" listed as Swiss. This guy isn't Swiss. I can't find a "Mark Mayerson" on the TD list. If someone can correct me I'll make the change. Email or here but email would be faster or just call the race line.

Hi, Chris Baker here, I'm a teammate of Cricket Butler's on the TotalCyclist Mtn Bike race team. I'm posting updates on our facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/home.php?sk=group_157132417683203&ap=1, also tweeting at handle cbake777. Other than some bottom bracket issues that were fixed by Mike at the bikeshop in Whitefish, her Moots has been serving her well. Sore knees yesterday but she experienced that last year. Iced them down and carrying on. She should make it outside Butte today and hopefully skirt the storms that look to be moving in beginning Thursday-Saturday which creates some super muddy sections.Says she feels really strong and hopes to get some of these slow sections behind her so she can open up a little. Making good progress. Stay tuned for more updates as I just discovered this forum.

If the world had more Crazy Larry's it would be a much brighter place. Mainly because if you add a turbine, treadmill, and a transformer a handful of them could generate some serious electricity!  icon_biggrin

The reroute I got actually turns to dirt for 16 miles, starting at the res. HW 112 ends, dirt begins (forget the name of the road), dirt ends and then HW begins again. Scratched my head for a little while trying to figure out what's up, until I talked to a local. If it's wrong, it's the best I could do. Checking Google Maps, *they* have it wrong, as does the ACA map, which has the HW/Resovoir relationship totally off. Regardless, it worked Smiley

Yeah, you're right.  Plus, that route is safer than riding the highway shoulder all the way from Chama to Abiquiu.

Could someone point me in the direction of Jill Homers record setting splits? I saw in a previous post that someone was comparing where Jill was during a period of time but I've gone through the site and can't seem to put my finger on that info.

I'm pretty sure that's the year and I think the only time she raced it?

Looking at the splits, Rawlins appears to be a good halfway measuring point. Jill Homer was there in 12:07:27 and finished in roughly double that time at 24:07:24. Cricket has made excellent time through the slower, snowier sections. With some good weather and some long hours from New Mexico's firefighters, this could be Cricket's year.  headbang Go Cricket!

James Hodges is still going but has lost his Spot.  He will try to call in with an update.

Aren't the records a moot point with the continual course changes and reroutes?

Not if Cricket can ride the original course without deviation. So far so good, now we just hope the southern route stays open from the fires and she has a possibility at the women's record.

Speaking of records--At her current pace, Cricket will be about a full day faster than Jill's split time for Lima.  thumbsup Go Cricket!
