Thanks for keeping an eye on Nick. Not certain how many people are still watching at this point. Best to KC. He should sleep well on his flight back across the pond!
I've been enthusiastically monitoring the riders throughout this event. Now that people with for me achievable performances are on their way to finish I'm still in awe how they manage to keep up such a powerful show for so long. Ride-eat-sleep. Fantastic. As maybe the oldest and the youngest are still on route Many cheers from Austria to them. All the best to Justin Simoni! I've just done some 200 Miles in my home region - had to do it to get the idea of a big bikepacking effort. (Due to saddle soreness the 480 km shrinked to 320 km and just 1 night out)  |

That truly sucks for Justin.

So sorry the Justin was not able to finish. He is an amazing athlete! Nick Kennedy has started the last leg of the route. Any word from James Hodges? Best of luck to both of them as they head to AW!!!

Stephen is heading off into the Basin after a midnight ride last night. Weather for Rawlins:

Partly cloudy in the morning...becoming cloudy. Slight chance of showers through early afternoon. Isolated thunderstorms early in the afternoon...then a chance of thunderstorms late in the afternoon. Highs 75 to 85. Southwest winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation 40 percent.

So nice temps but not quite as nice winds. Go Stephen!

Hmmmmm....the latest update shows Stephen off route near the Colorado border doing 399 miles per hour. [edit] Now he's back on track - must have been a quick jet flight to check out the border area.  |

Justin Simoni called in from Gila Medical Center to say he’s out with a shoulder injury. Bummer. I can so relate. In 2005, I set off by bike to do the Carterra Austral from Puerto Montt, Chile over the Patagonia frontier down to Ushuaia, Argentina. I was only a week into the trip when I fell of the bike and broke my collar bone. I retreated to the start, had surgery, rented a car and tried to sag for my two partners still heading south. A week later riding down the road, the plate on my collar bone snapped near Cochrane, Chile. I decided enough was enough and was evacuated back to the US for more surgery and a second bigger plate. It took me awhile to recover but I did. As disappointed as I was, I must say that the experiences I had on that trip where worth it all. I hope Justin mends quickly and gets back at it. ISO Kim Raeymaekers (first ever Belgian, I think), Bob Anderson and Norb DeKerchove. I enjoyed riding with these fellows and I hope to contact them.

WOW! Wow! wow! Just listened to Justin Simoni's call in and gotta say what an inspirational person he is. I saw him along the route and watched his bold attempt (via spot tracking) and was completely amazed at this individual. Congratulations Justin for a great ride! You might not have made it to AW but you did make it the greatest race I have seen yet. Wishing you a full recovery and a repaired bike for all your future endeavours.

Hello All, I'm a friend of James' and have been tracking him via the call-ins since he lost his SPOTR. Just wanted to know from you all who have already finished, is there anyone at the finish line (Race Director or TDMBR "staff")? Or will anyone be there when James finishes?
