I talked to Eric S. He supposed to leave Silver City at 3 pm. His Dad mentioned he was having problem with his SPOT (I guess it was due to low batteries). I am assuming he never got that fixed and his SPOT just stopped working.

Thanks for the update, It is comforting to his Blue Dot fans to know he is rested and 'in the game'. Go, Eric!

I touched base with Ryan earlier and he mentioned going off route where Alberto B is now doing the same thing. He was definitely a little frustrated, after "running on fumes for most of the day". He wasn't looking forward to back tracking in the heat. He found a place to fuel up and cool off for a bit, so in the end, it worked out alright Smiley Hopefully Alberto will take advantage of the services also.

Thanks, RCtracker, BTW, how's his blistered toe?  Surely better since he's in good spirits and taking great photos. Looks like he's fired up to reach Antelope Wells.  Go, Ryan!

Where is Alberto headed now? Seems like he's skipping the CDT section after his resupply.

John Phillips missed a turn coming down into Cuba, and is now backtracking.  He will spend about an hour on the mistake.

Wondering the same. He should have backtracked to the route but continued on 15.

He'll intersect the course in less than 10 miles if he doesn't figure it out and back track.  If he went to the Lake Roberts store to resupply, he should have gone backwards from there to get back to course.  Or, he just missed that turn off of 35 before Lake Roberts.  Regardless, I hope he figures it out soon before he puts in too many unnecessary miles.

Looks like Alberto missed the whole CDT section, be a lot of backtracking. Interesting to see what he does. Maybe he doesn't even know he made a mistake; it'd be a real bummer if he gets relegated because of it. But rules are rules.

Maybe he has made a decision to avoid this section? I know from experience that it comes at the end of a long, tough segment. And there has been plenty of discussion here to say that it is very hard to do with a loaded up bike.

Elena M.  looks to be inside an ancient meteor crater or perhaps a volcanic bast of the past!  Any geologist or astro physicist out there?

It looks to me,  hhhmmm hhmm, that she is in the crater left when the space ship landed. You know, the one from from the MOVIE where the ALIENS INVADED and the SUPER HERO squad saved the world?  (yeahh, that's what really happened geologically)

Calls overnight: Tracey Petervary called in from Cuba. She recaps her ride from Horca but missed the snack shack and is missing some coffee! Fred Arden called in to say he has giardia and is OUT! Jim Stansbury called in from Island Park. He’s doing good and headed to Flagg Ranch. And Justin Simoni, The Long Ranger, called in from Grants. He had an interesting dinner.

The backtracking around the CDT Alt reminds me that it is very hard to find the trailhead. I had a lot of hunting and pecking there, exploring false routes, even with GPS and cue sheets. Heck, I even lost the trail ascending the initial climb in hike-a-bike mode. To a blue dot junkie, a rider can appear to have lost his wits after a deliberate off route to the lake, followed by the scramble to begin the CDT Alt. Send all the "Radar Love" you have if you are tracking a racer there!
