Congratulations again to all the finishers, way to go Ricardo!!  So sorry to hear about Tony's broken ankle.  Hope all goes well with your recovery.

Best wishes to those still on the road, riding to AW or to Banff.  Will be watching you as you travel.

He is at home with a broken ankle. I don't know what happened but he seems safe. I hope he makes another go of it.

Yup, same here. Must be very frustrating to have to stop like this 2 years in a row, so close to the start.

I wonder if him and Jarral ever talked.

Diana: Has Tyson said what he liked best about riding the Divide?

Cjell: I have been checking your blog for the update from the Divide (since you said you were working on it)... you didn't get into trouble in Canada, did you?

Tracy B.: Your blog is great! Love the stories & the descriptions!

Eszter: Love the pictures and the honesty in your blog!

Jarral: Waiting to see what you write about 'catching' Eszter! I also think your blog is very interesting as well. Did you have to pack enough insulin for the entire trip? Are you going to do the Divide again? If so, what would you do differently other than spend less time at places?

Congrats to those who have finished in the last few days!! To those who had to drop out in the last few days, I hope you are recovering! To those still riding, keep on keeping on! :-)

To those who are "spot stalking" - check out the blogs... they are very interesting! Also, if you haven't ordered a Cordillera (I ordered volume 2 & 3 - laughed & cried throughout!), you REALLY need to consider doing so!

The individual blogs are great!  Georg D has a nicely detailed account of his long preparation and now the ride itself; part one is out. It is written in German, I am trying to get my wife to translate the entire blog...

this question may have already been asked....but is there someone doing an ITT on a unicycle? I was up on Fleecer on Thursday and as I was descending on the road back toward I-15 I saw a guy cruising up on a unicycle. Unfortunately we passed each other pretty quickly so I didn't take a picture. He looked like he was geared up for something longer than a day ride. He may have also thought I was nuts as I was occasionally yelling choooooo hooooo! I had seen a bear on my way up and wanted to let it know I was coming back.

There are at least 2, but to my knowledge neither is doing an ITT. Just touring it!

Gen Shimizu is one. I think he's currently in Helena (going south) so I doubt he's the one you saw.

Here is his blog: http://www.greatdivideride.com/journal

A few days ago while he was nursing a sprained ankle near the border, Gen mentioned this guy, who passed him, so he's probably the one you saw:

A slightly early congrats to Michelle Dulieu.  Just a little down hill and some flats to go.  After what looked like a really rough time early on she has stuck to it in true rando style.   thumbsup

Hello everyone in stalker-land...(and finished racers alike...)
I just wanted to offer a HUGE congratulations to all of the cyclists who came out and dug deep in these mountains again this year.

It was truly challenging for me not to be here for the race...it is definitely my favorite time of year on the Mountain.

That said, I did feel as though I was leaving the place in capable hands.  And I would like to thank Matthew Lee, his partner Katie, and Scott M...for holding down the fort, while also hopefully lifting up the racers.

My journey off the ranch found me in the Ontario woods, and completely without internet, so the last couple of days have been intermittently consumed with re-living the excitement of the race through this forum!

So exciting and amazing, what we crazy humans are capable of!

Things are changing here on Brush Mountain...
but i hope to see you all from the deck of the lodge next year.

AWESOME RACE, folks!!
Thanks again for being the coolest part...
Kirsten
Brush Mountain Lodge, Slater, CO

P.S.  If you raced through here this year, or heard feedback from those who did, please feel free to PM me with your experience...I would love to factor that in as we consider how to manage the lodge in the future.

I just turned on the "Current Radar" view and it looks like Michelle and Dan will be hitting some rain, hopefully not too much. The clouds are right at the finish.

Congrats to both

Diana: Has Tyson said what he liked best about riding the Divide?  Question from RootingforEveryone.

We got to spend some time and talk to Tyson about his experience for a couple hours, and I must say, he had us laughing so much.  So from my perception, I believe the relationships with the others riders he met, those people he met in the stores and restaurants that were so welcoming to the TourDivide riders and a few he met along the roads (the TD "stalkers") was part of the very favorite things.  He also spent some time telling us about this awesome TD rider~~~~~Matthew Lee, who he felt like he was with royalty:-)  He couldn't say enough wonderful things about the hospitality of Matthew and everyone.

It was great to hear about Matthew from Tyson and their visit one on one together before everyone else showed up, that was one of his favorite times.

He still finds it hard to believe he did this.  His boss asked him "when did you feel you where in over your head?" and Tyson said "about three hours into it!!"  It was a life changing event for him and he made friendships I believe will be there for years to come.

Thanks to all of the riders for sharing their stories and their ride with him!!

Way to go Michele! I had a great time seeing you out on the trail. You showed amazing perseverance. I think you may be one of the toughest riders to challenge the TD this year.

Calls: Tracy Burge called in from Del Norte. They have had some short days dodging storms. Dan Haskin called in from Silver City. He recaps his ride. He’s got some tire issues solved thanks to some locals actually going home and returning with tires! And Bruce Giroux called in from home to recap his finish!

Sorry these are late. I'm out of town and just got to checking in on the calls.

My last Grand Depart rider. Now he has an excuse, he had to fly back to Europe from Silverthorne for business and then went to England to take part in a knee deep mud race along the South Downs, back to Denver yesterday and over Boreas today. Makes me tired just typing it.

I have a feeling Giorgio will not however be the last to finish.
