I see the x and y axis, and the colour key, but no lines
I can see the Race Flow and Elevation in Firefox but not in IE8 |

Ha, I told the wife I might have to show up in 2013 if someone over 50 lays down a target time this yr. However, she wasn’t the least bit supportive of the idea.  Hmmm.... you being out there in 2013 Marshal would definitely motivate me to give it a go. I will 50 next year as well. Alex |

If you haven't read Cjell Money's blog, you should. The guy is a trip! Good stories from his travels around the world...stories only someone in their early 20's tells...had me cracking up.

What is the record for over 50? I was supposed to have a go at the TD this year but got smacked by a truck a couple of weeks ago and couldn't recover. Not that I would be able to beat the record but having another year to train, it's something to strive for  |

And the leaders are nearly out of MT!! They are riding up Red Rock Pass, one of the easier Continental Divide crossings (certainly in MT anyway). Come on Oli and Craig, keep it going  |

I spent a couple hours the other night unable to fall asleep thinking about the route.
I wonder if having daily TDR thoughts means I need to do it. I realized last weekend during the DK200 that I started endurance racing because of your TDR experience and cajoling. McMurv, I thought you were going to try this again this year? |

I am 59 and plan on TD next year! My wife is set against it, she wants us to take a month trip to England (she does not have anything to do with a bicycle). I am a pretty serious road cyclist, some MB in the past. Oregon has some very decent training areas. Yet i am anxious a year in advance!

Ester's Mtb Cast food fetish rant is great. lol.
Food is something that you are always thinking about when you're in the middle of nowhere. When you can sit down and eat a meal, it's a treat and sometimes alot of fun. I can honestly say that my food fetish slowed me down on my TD run. Sometimes I thought I was riding the "Tour De Small Town Diners" in search of the perfect chicken fried steak. When you are a rookie, you don't really know what food and drink is available down the trail. The body wants it and it makes the mind quit messin with ya for a while. I'm sure Ester is thinking go, go, go but the little dude yelling in her ear is saying "mmm, I smell coffee and bacon".

A few sprinkles, temperatures in the 60's and light afternoon wind made it a fine day for riding through the Pioneer Mountains of southwest Montana. Kurt was not to far behind Serge, followed by Adam, Garrett & Eric; all are headed toward the Medicine Lodge - Sheep Creek section. Eszter stopped to refuel at the Grasshopper Inn this evening.

I think every single picture posted so far has shown the riders in either rain gear, windbreakers, long sleeves and pants, etc.., regardless of time of day or wether or not the sun's out. It must be consistently cold, chilly, wet for the first 6 days...

Man, if I'd known that, I would've baited you with "hey, there's the best chicken fried steak 2 miles off route that way" just to slow you down even more! Or maybe put some steaks out on the road every mile or so you'd have to stop and eat them ... but then again maybe you'd have more energy that way. Tough call, I guess. Who-da thunk that the achilles heel for such a strong rider of a grown man would be deep-fried-breaded-chicken-breast. Go figure! I chuckled at Eszter's micky-D's story, as I too had some of the best micky-D's on route after not eating the crap for years. Also, I can just hear Marshal saying now ... "For optimal fast food on the TD, KFC beats McD's anytime, anyday..." If only he'd dispensed that sage advice before the race, not after, I wouldn't have been so slow either. |
