Only 9 out of 105 have scratched. Very impressive. Could be record year for finishers!

Hahaha, if anyone sees Mark Farnsworth, tell him those are elk not caribou! Listen to his call in: That guy is having a GREAT time! Awesome!
From his call-ins, it sounds like he's so stoked that I would believe him if he said they were flying raindeer! Love the way he's improvising and working out his gear as he races. Maybe the rules should say you start without anything (including phone) and when the gun fires you take off looking for gear you want to take including a bike.

If I was pushing hard enough, one night of 8 hrs sleep every so often might keep me in the game but likely I would hit my pacing goals or just DNF. I don't want to be wasted after a full course effort just to finish again. Personally I already have my finish.
When I pulled out early in 2008 I got to regroup and crush the CTR.

Several TD riders dropped into the Grasshopper Valley today. Unfortunately I missed Kevin G, Katherine W & Dylan T but did chat with Josh and Tracey. They were both loving the nice weather and were feeling great. Georg made it to our lodge tonight and is planning an early departure. We had a couple riders miss the lodge yesterday, they are not TD riders this year but they plan to ride next year. I topped our sign with a bike to call attention, it's a pain to have to back track.
Once again, great pictures. Josh doesn't look to beat up. Josh Jarral and Eszter stayed with us in Hamilton, MT on the way up to the start and he is a great guy. Glad to see him back in it and doing well. Had a chance to listen to a few of the MTBcasts and they are great. The tandem report was the best, I would love to see that thing get air-born. Good luck to all the riders!

Looks like Chip Andrus may be in tonight, the main field heading South seems a bit behind on previous years.
I do not know when Cjell came past, yesterday was a busy day, somebody said they saw a Cyclist on the Elkhorn heading North so I assume that was him.
David Nice had a beer, sorry forgot to take a photo. He went off with a full breakfast.

Looks like Eric Foster is rolling again. Hope that knee holds up. He may get the Chuck Norris award for popping his knee back in and riding

From his call-ins, it sounds like he's so stoked that I would believe him if he said they were flying raindeer! Love the way he's improvising and working out his gear as he races. His calls are great and he's definitely enjoying the adventure. His training for this started a couple months back and he's now leading the SSers and 21st overall in the TDR. Pretty ****ing cool if you ask me. Calls like his make you think a) you can do it too and b) you should be doing it too. The call ins I look forward to most are Mark's, Cjell's and Justin's as they are always a hoot. Billy Rice's bit to ML about "putting down the iPad and quit dropping bears" is an all time contender too.

I don't think so. He likely spent the night in Kremlling, which is off route, then went back on this morning but didn't turn his Spot on right away. I don't think there would be any other way to rejoin the route where his Spot shows.

And one that looks to be more difficult that the actual route to boot. At least it'll be downhill to correct it if he figures it out. Looks like Justin made a wrong turn too but figured it out a couple minutes ago.

That's what I thought until I looked at it in satellite mode. There is definitely some sort of road/trail there. May be conincidence in the SPOT variance showing him "off" the route but "on" that other road?

Long Ranger took another wrong turn - south of Butte. And it looks like Tom Thomas and Nathan Mawkes who have ridden together for 2-3 days now are leaving Butte but 40 min apart.

Oh, I see. I thought you were talking about the spot tracking from this morning, where it bypassed a good chunk of the trail.

Speaking of a field of "crazies", let's not forgot that both Dave Goldberg and Kurt Sandiforth completed the full AZT 750 a short few months ago in April of this year, and have stated intentions of doing a Triple Crown of sorts by adding the CTR after the TD. There's also plenty of riders with one or many CTR's under their belts. Also, it was mentioned previously that Garret P is former (current?) pro roadie. And, let's not forget how much "craziness" is coupled on the Blue tandem at the moment. Jill's blog lays out some impressive women's resumes. Last year's TD finisher Mike Hall just set some sort of around the world record. And, and, and, ...
I think that's what makes it even more impressive that there are guys and gals on this course right now (and in the past) who DON'T have that kind of resume but still finish and sometimes finish ahead of some of the "crazies".

Can anyone point me to the start list? I can't seem to find it anywhere on tourdivide.org or the trackleaders site. I know there is a racer from Whitehorse but don't know who he is.
