This evening Billy R & Rich W stopped in for dinner. They refueled and were off for the Medicine Lodge area. Billy said he was starting to get acclimated and was having a good day. He was glad to have some "Texas Style" riding in front of him for a few days...I guess no mountains to train on in Texas. He also mentioned that he lives at 300 feet above sea level. Rich attached the cookie jar before dinner. I noticed a message that is appropriate for all TD riders on his fender.

You're welcome. We enjoy meeting as many of the TD riders as we can. It is very interesting to find out where they are from and how the TD is going for them. Over the years we have noticed how up beat the TD riders are reguardless of riding conditions...they are doing what they really love and it shows. I attached a few TD photos from my archieve, know any of these people? @Russ Kipp -- thanks for posting pics -- great to see everyone as they come through!

Bummer....poor Jarrad. So based on my limited research an Aussie still is yet to finish this race. Now theres a challenge.

I'm really happy for Ollie to see him and Craig sharing this adventure! Personally, on the Divide I generally found I went further on the days I was riding by myself (although when I rode for a while with Ollie at the Petit Brevet he was keeping the pace ramped up pretty high). Maybe Ollie or Craig would be covering more ground if they were solo, but it seems like they might end up with a race record and best mate. Jackpot!

Regarding snow melt I met DenisVTT in the basin last year and later saw his blog of high snow on Indiana Pass, above his bike I recall - with a trail ploughed through. When I got there all I saw was a few snow patches on the side of the road - basically clear.
That's the pic:

Calls overnight - Mark Farnsworth called in from the Tetons. Doing good and enjoying his ride. Mark from Helena called in for Jo Ann Burtard. She’s doing fine but couldn’t find a phone in Helena. Sara Caylor called in from Dillon. She’s off-route trying to replace her computer.

High winds are forecasted for the great basin in WY today. Could be a southbounders dream with sustained winds up to 30mph out of the west. Hope fixie Dave can battle through heading north.

Is Brush Mountain Lodge open this year? Their website looks a bit out of date and nobody seems to have mentioned it this year. Not sure if I'm allowed to say, but someone we all know will be there from the end of June through the 4th. And I think there will be someone else will be running it the rest of the time.

I recognize those handsome guys in the first two photos. I'll be swinging by early July Russ; sorry I missed you last time.

....... was 5 miles behind Tom T and Nathan M;
Russ - Thanks for the pictures and ongoing ride hospitality. I posted your pictures of Tom and Nathan on Tom's Ride Page. Did they overnight with you? They have been riding together since before Seeley Lake. Tom tumbled over his bars yesterday and thought he broke his clavicle (again!) but rode on to Lima and is doing well. I don't see where your Lodge is despite lots of remote looking at the Grasshopper Valley. I presumed the big building would show up - perhaps it was recently built?

Tom and Nathan did not overnight at our lodge...not sure where they spent the evening. I saw them in the lower end of the valley and took their picture. Our lodge is located between the Grasshopper Inn and Polaris, MT. We are not on the map but are on the addendum. Next map printing we should be on the map. We are 6 days away from our next "Bike Event" which is called RATPOD. This stands for Ride Around The Pioneers in One Day. It is a benefit ride for Camp-Mak-A-Dream in Montana. We are the breakfast stop and will feed 700 riders & support people over a 3 hour period as they pass through the Grasshopper valley. Maybe some of the northbound TD riders will be passing though that day.

Have had three TD riders pass by already this morning. Martin R. says that this country is so beautiful-beautiful-beautiful. Elena M & Marco C are really enjoying the ride. They mentioned they live in the mountains of Italy, narrow valleys and steep mountains...no wide open spaces like southwest Montana. They also mentioned Montana was a very large state.
