Ez doesn't have "dial it back" as part of her repertoire.

She is blazing across the country. Very impressive to watch her go day after day. Super proud of her.
Believe that! She is about to pull into Silverthorne almost 5 days ahead of Jill Homer's previous record split time. Wow!

You don't understand. It's not about nutrients. It's about calories. You're not going to get very far on salad in this race.

maybe I need to include a wink?

Only 3 more big climbs left for the leaders.  A break tomorrow?  A long ride through the night?  I'm pretty sure drinking large pints of beer everyday will help fuel Craig on to the finish.

Gotta respect New Mexico. You think you're in the home stretch and the hard stuff is over but NM is tough.

Calls this evening: Eric Schraufnagel called in from Steamboat sounding rough. He’s having some respiratory issues and coughing up blood apparently. He did visit the hospital and is going to stay the night in Steamboat and hopefully feel better tomorrow.
Josh Smith called in from Teton. He’s doing okay after taking a spill.
Fixie Dave Nice called in from Atlantic City. He’s doing good but the wind apparently kept things slow.
Cjell Money called in Island Park. He lost his cell phone. Otherwise doing well.
Max Morris called in from Atlantic City. Enjoyed a tailwind that push him 100mi in 5 hours. No rooms but he’ll sleep behind the bar.
Jarral Ryter called in from Breckenridge. Sounding punchy.

Jarral's latest call in certainly is comical!

I can't believe it.. The Lone Ranger has almost caught up with TT, NM, and ZK in Pinedale after his 13 hour wheel fixing sidetrip yesterday. That is some strong singlespeeding.  BUT he is taking the wrong way into Pinedale, it seems.

Yeah! - Lone Ranger corrected way sooner than usual!  Perhaps he will surprise the guys during their meal.

I'm curious to see if Eszther spends the night in Silverthorne or decides to push to perhaps Breck or at least somewhat closer. Based on her race thus far, she's not averse to passing a room for a bivvy farther on. She's already logged some substantial miles today yet was still cranking it into Silverthorne.

I think it's worth mentioning (although I'm not sure how his initial detour affects it all), but Cjell Money is currently ~35 miles behind EH for 9th place in the virtual race.

The race for 3rd is really heating up.  It looks like Serge has really put in a strong day today although Kurt is still looking strong and consistent...and consistent is good.  Eszter is strong and steady.  She really is putting in one impressive race, crushing the women's record thus far.  And Katherine Wallace...also a very impressive showing.  There really are some strong contenders.  Fixie Dave...ride strong my friend...who the hell would attempt this on a fixie???  It makes me smile every time I think about it.

What fun reading all the comments and seeing all the pictures of the riders.  Was excited to see our son, Tyson Fahrenbruck in a couple pictures.  Looks like he is doing good, still smiling.  Thanks to all of you who are posting the pictures for us at home.   thumbsup  It is very interesting to see how the riders are moving ahead, sorry for those who had to leave.  Hope all of them get well soon and are back riding some day.  Go Ollie Go!!

Looks like Jarral has gone over the top and is on his way down so I will stay up and keep the lights on.

Day 12 show of the Tour Divide 2012! Lots of respiratory issues this year as Eric Schraufnagel is recovering from issues and Michael Arenberg is out with pulmonary edema! Eszter runs down her diet, Fixie Dave makes it across the basin, and Jarral Ryter does his best Phil Liggett impression!

Good idea.  I was wondering what he would do.  Looks like he has some downhill single track in the dark, but once he hits the road again, I'm sure he'll make Como and be hungry.  Doesn't look like he stopped long (except the call) in Breckenridge or Silverthorne.  Adam is moving fast, so Jarral needs to keep going.

Jarral has gone by, bed time.

I am pretty sure he stayed on the Grade, the Gold Dust is not something to do in the dark.

Two more riders passed through the Grasshopper valley today, Donald Mc & Jo Ann B.  Donald stopped for breakfast about 1/2 an hour after Melissa, Michael, Tyson & Mark left.  Jo Ann came though a couple hours later; her tracker was working sporadically.  She was marked up on the Byway then once again a couple hours later down in the valley...she said it was not a battery issue.  Later this evening Dan H and Cody R stopped to overnight at Montana High Country Lodge.
