Any thoughts on what might have happened to Ollie ... nothing for an hour?  He had a stop not long before this so unlikely he has made a voluntary stop so soon again.

Pretty sure it is just normal SPOT delay.  Sometimes it will queue up a few points that fail to get out in dense trees or when coverage is otherwise not optimal.

Dan H is having SPOT trouble too. He's tried new batteries, the "GPS fix" and those didn't work. All lights are flashing in unison. Anyone have any ideas?

Is the GPS light blinking red?  Drop us a note at info@trackleaders.com and we'll see if we can help.

Hope all is okay ands is just a tracking issue.
I show him moving pretty good just north of Silver City with last tracker update as of 2 minutes ago.  He probably made a prudent water stop.  Services in the Gila are extremely limited.

The spot updates can be glitchy - sometimes I have to select the rider and open a new track to get it to update correctly.

+1. Anyone have a paypal link for mtbcast? I couldn't see a button on the site.

It's in the top of the left sidebar.

Does anyone know what the amount of climbing typically is in the TD?

Somewhere around 61,000m.

Silly question.  How long is the race, really?  Description says 2745 miles, but Ollie is at mile 2729 miles right now, and he has a heck of a lot more than 16 miles to go!  I'm guessing he has another 140 miles at least which puts the race around 2880 miles.  I know there are alternates, etc., but I didn't realize they added this much distance.  What mile will Antelope Wells be?

Now in Silver City, will Ollie push on into the night for 10 plus hours or take a break?  Currently looks like he's stocking up.  He's had such good rest stops up to now I imagine he'll push on liek he has i other brevet events.  May the wind be at your back Ollie.

Second northbound TD rider passed through the Grasshopper valley this afternoon with a wicked tailwind pushing him.  Chip Andrus said he felt like he was on a motor cycle since he was traveling so fast today.  Prior to his arrival we had 650, yes 650 RATPOD riders stop at the Montana High Country Lodge in Polaris for breakfast this morning.  This is Camp-Mak-A-Dream's annual fund raiser and our fifth year to host the "Breakfast Stop".  I noticed tonight that Tracy B is back in and has made it to Wise River.  Go Tracy!!!

There's also a fast food place there, and a grocery store.

Since he is already back in Salida, doesn't seem to be a big deal. A frustrating day pushing yesterday probably. But easy enough either to get the frame repaired or replaced there (and it's not that he would be broke by just grabbing a new bike). So a one day delay and a bad day yesterday. Seems par for the course, frame is just more expensive to fix than pedals or brakes.
Georg Deck didn't even lose his position, still 14th now. So he just had an extra long day yesterday, but that  was about the fastest recovery one could make from any mechanical problem, let alone a broken frame (although among the NoBos last year, Ross Delaplane got his frame welded together even more quickly - he had a harder time finding a good replacement saddle after animals chewed up his saddle at night)

Anyone know what the weather is doing in Silver City?

There's a pretty good chance Ollie will go under the 'projected time' of 16:06, but I'm wondering how close to 16 days he'll finish. Guess it depends a lot on the wind (and how long he spends in the city).

Before he started, he was hoping to crack 20 days.

Another good way to track the weather is here: http://wxug.us/pq2m (WeatherUnderground with personal weather stations - would be a nice addition to the layers for next year!) - from here it looks to be mostly gentle winds but still way hot, even this late in the day!

Go Ollie!

More calls tonight: Eric Schraufnagel’s family called in to wish him well and John Phillips called in from a laundromat in Frisco! Trains kept him up in Radium but he’s doing well.
