I too laughed out loud when I saw cjell money's finish time of 4:20...read his blog, you'll understand.  He seems like an awesome guy and has been a pleasure to read about and follow during the TD!  thumbsup

Eszter is rolling out of Silver City.  All-nighter to the border?

That stretch has been pretty tough on people, but she could do it! Get tough and smash the record!

It'll be interesting to see what Eszter does tonight. I'm sure she can't wait to finish but I can't imagine her pushing through the night at this point...130 miles to AW.  I don't think there's any way Dylan can catch her even if she does sleep tonight.

Update:  Ha! We were all thinking the same thing at the same time!

Congratulations Jarral! What an awesome ride.  You have a fan club out here in Wisco!  Now we are cheering Eszter on to the finish.

Any word from Greg Strauser lately?  He appears to be WAY off course south of Breckenridge.  Hope all is well.

EDIT: Oh, never mind that.  I see he went off-route north of Silverthorne, as well.  Looks like he's decided to keep pedaling to an unofficial finish?

I've looked at Dave Meissner's tracker.  Doesn't appear to be any sort of mechanical because he continued to move at a decent pace.  He backtracked and then basically was in the same area for 20 minutes, and then continued back up.  Maybe he lost something, noticed it, went looking for it, found it, repacked it and then his spot went off or he repacked his spot and it's not able to send a signal in it's current packed location. That's my guess but it's just a guess.

It looks like he was fine in Silverthorne.  He is way off route at this point.  He really booked it on that road up to 19mph but since he was just in Breck it makes no sense for him to high tail it to Fair Play...at least I can't think of a reason.  It'll be interesting to see if he backtracks.

Congrats Cjell! It's been fun to watch our Nepal-buddy tackle this latest adventure!

Of course, it's been inspiring to follow ALL the amazing riders out there... hats off to some super-impressive vets (Jarral, Erik Lobeck, et al), the many gals (who are rockin' it!), and really anyone who gets on a bike out there! Kudos.

+1 one more fan of Jarral's ride.  Super impressive, consistent pedaling.  Totally Cjell Money!  Making up the time lost early on was fun to notice.  I'd say "watch" in quotes, but notice seems more appropriate to describe blue dot viewing.

Looks like the tandem is resting at the Beaverhead tonight, soon to be joined by Eric S.  Hope Eric S. has good lights.  It's a little rough in some stretches through there.

There's plenty of riders still spinning out there tonight, as usual, especially 5 riders in the middle of the 100+ road ride through rez land south of Cuba.

Calls this evening: Tracy Burge called in from Lima. She recaps an awesome ride! Tracey Petervary called in from Horca. She recaps her ride and is doing okay despite her leaking sleep pad. Fixie Dave Nice called in from The Outdoorsman in Butte! He recaps his ride over Fleecer. Michael Cleveland called in getting his BB fixed at Orange Peel Bikes in Steamboat! Dave Meissner called in from Abiquiu. His chainring came apart. He’s having to retreat and get that fixed. And Eszter Horanyi called in from Silver City where she’s enjoying, what else? McDonald’s! She did manage to get pie in Pie Town!

Another good Eszter call in. I knew she would hit that MickeyD's (a must after the Gila) but thought there would be a choc milkshake in there. Looks like she will be breaking the 19 day! Solid!!
