Huge congratulations, admiration and respect for Fixie Dave finishing on a FIXED GEAR !!!! As someone who trains with a fixed gear on pavement in the "off season" I can only imagine what it took to complete this monumental journey on terrain that us mere mortals struggled over on loaded bikes with gears. How many people have completed the full TDR route on a fixed gear? BTW, does anyone know how the guy on the unicycle is doing?

Sara D rolled into Antelope Wells at 8:01 yesterday evening. She finished strong pushing on with only an hours sleep the night before. She had a flat at Separ because it is "Goathead City". Everyone watch out. She had put a tube in earlier because of a large nail. Those goatheads dont respect tubes. Soon she was in Lordsburg where she will catch a Greyhound to Tucson for her flight home. She was in good spirits and hungry!

"BTW, does anyone know how the guy on the unicycle is doing?"
Gen the unicyclist, sprained his ankle and rested for three days in Eureka, he rolled out Wed AM and had a good day making it to Tuchuck campground ( we camped with him there). He should be rolling into Whitefish later today.

Congrats to Fixie Dave.....been a long time coming. Your determination to slay this beast has been impressive. Great job!
Nice finish Sara! Way to stay strong while battling flats and very little sleep.
Congrats to all finishers and to the ones still riding - keep those wheels pointed south! Almost home.

It is so great to see Fixie Dave on the home stretch after so many attempts. If I remember right he had sworn off the TD altogether after the last run. This is going to be so sweet for him.
+1 - congrats Dave...savour the victory with some fine Canadian beer...

:icon_biggrin:Congrats to all the finishers this week! Wow, more finished than scratched and there are still about 30 on the trail! Some blue dots appear inactive for days, i.e., CB and GA...did I miss something? Did they have to leave the ride? It is amazing to hear of riders that have come back after scratching to finish the route. Yeah, Fixie Dave, persistence wins! Sounds like weather is hitting those in NM, but there is quite group moving towards AW and the finish. Still an exciting race to watch and listen to. Oh, let's not forget to shout out to TB, in Rawlins. Keep it goin', Tracy...every day you are closer to AW!

Dan Haskin called in from La Garita Store. He’s got some mechanical issue but otherwise sounds good. He’s going try to get to Del Norte and get to a bike store from there.

Congrats to Fixie Dave for his multi-year persistence. In addition to the Fixie Award, I think he gets a Most Persistent Award. Congrats to James Hodges, 28 days 1 hour and 44 minutes. Over sixty and still strong! Congrats to Greg Levitsky - average speed = 100.82 miles per day! He gets that badge of honor I love the photo of Sara D -- the blurry image is appropriate for a sleep-deprivation look!

I use Google translator ( https://support.google.com/chrome/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=173424&p=ib_translation_bar) and enjoy the interesting language conversion. For example: Since a large part of the route passes through areas that are inhabited by animals that we encounter Europeans usually rather only in the zoo, is the knowledge of relevant in this regard conduct mandatory (bear bell and whistle, bear spray, incarceration and high slopes of food supplies) or "Drafting is forbidden as well as in the Fall in team. That during the course of several days, and small groups (of suffering) communities form, is not only inevitable but also an essential part of the TD-culture. We camped together often, but usually runs off independently of each other." Thanks for sharing your TDR experience George! It has been very enjoyable following your preparations and then reaching Antelope Wells !!
