Does that mean that Cjell Money has a new SS reacord? Or was he rerouted like Dave Nice?

I have huge respect for the single speed guys. It's a really tough route.
Records are interesting but really comparison is only valid for travel in a given direction starting from a given location.
You can't really compare going north with going south due to differences in weather conditions. Records for going north and going south should be viewed interdependently. Going from north to south and leaving in June means you really need to be hard to handle the rough weather in Canada. Going from south to north will involve different challenges early on.
Congratulations to all the guys who finished such a hard race.

Rich Wolf is the next rider to border. Great Job!
I read Jills great book on the DR the last couple of days. Enjoyed the book greatly, loved her descriptions of the race.

Mel Liebling called in from the Beaverhead Work Center. She managed to get some food from some fire fighters!

I believe Cjell's bike was not a singlespeed and had two gears.

Hello, Been lurking since day one, following MCleavland and glad to see he's almost to the end. wasn't sure he'd make it there for awhile. Just wanted to give a shout out, FWIW, to everyone who started this event. Wow, is all that comes to mind to express my feelings. You all have something special pumping through your veins to want to attempt something like this and you all deserve a hoot and holler. Glad you took us all along (virtually) and allowed us into your world!

Congratulations to the riders who finishes in the last day and night we know from some calls from our son that the storms have been incredible with heavy winds and rain. He has had to take shelter wherever to get out of the lightening which has really slowed him down some. Looks like he will finish on Monday even though he wanted to get done today. He still needs to get to Silver City Awesome, awesome ride Tyson Stay safe, watch out for the goatheads coming up too. Safe travels to those still out there by him, the Ohio guys!!! Aaron H. And Louis N. Diana

The Elena/Marco duo camped with GregL at the Beaverhead on July 3rd. The Italians never stopped riding after they left the Beaverhead on the morning of the 4th, reaching the Separ store at midnight, and the border at about 6:40am on July 5 (101.86 mpd).
Amy, thanks much for all the great statistical analysis. You obviously have followed the race closely and with a keen interest. I wonder if you can answer a question I posed earlier on the forum. I don't see that anyone has addressed it yet. I'm curious as to whether Elena/Marco will be officially ranked? There was a fair bit of discussion on the forum about Craig and Ollie traveling together at times, even though they clearly had no arrangement to ride together. I've not seen anything similar with respect to the Italian "duo," however. Are the rules simply less strict for those riders further down the finish roster? Clearly, Elena and Marco did not chance to ride the entire route together. There was a mention of the fact that Marco is a veteran who has ridden the route in 19 days before. Elena basically had a pacesetter and coach throughout the ride, then. It seems to me it would be setting a really bad precedent to allow them to be ranked. It essentially negates the "no teams" rule, doesn't it?

just my thoughts: 2 people, who care for each other, sharing an adventure like this is absolutely awesome (wether on a tandem or not) and you, as a dot-follower, asking them to be scrapped from the results for that very same reason is very unrespectful and 'not done'.

Looks like it's a party in P.A! Tyson, Louis and Aaron are all at the Buckhorn saloon in Pinos Altos taking a well deserved break no doubt. Seems like the rain has been hitting the Gila pretty good and I bet those roads are sticky. Good luck guys.

A little research shows that people often ride together for extended lengths of time. Read Jills book, look at this years race, should Greg and Olie be tossed, should George and Michael be excluded? Absolutely not! The idea of it being "solo" and unsupported is of great importance. But outside of race leaders and record breakers does it really matter? If the race is an individuals test of mental and physical strength and flexibility. I doubt if anyone of the racers who rode together have guilt or feel they only "succeeded" because of a riding partner.
