Nice to see Kerrin Walker [in Cuba NM] underway again after 24hrs ... not sure what that smoke inhalation has been doing to him but looking at has SpoT track he's slightly confused! ......... or maybe it was him not Jesse who got a lightning touch up? sign13
Looks like he had to back-track for something he left behind in Cuba

As far as things go with Eric Foster. I'm pretty upset that comments here have affected his ride. I'm absolutely APPALLED that some would hunt down his phone number and text him crap like that. Whoever you are, you should be ashamed of yourself. Eric, keep riding your ride, there are plenty that still support you. Haters gonna hate.

+1. Despicable, weak act.

There have been a few reroutes in NM due to wildfires.

Is this the beginning of the end of the 2013 TD?  Mike has what, 180 miles to go???  He can spin that out before noon right?  icon_biggrin

The fun will continue for days to come.  Watching the rest of the field jockey and push for better positions and faster times.  Go, go, go!!!

I guess the next target will be 200 miles a day.

Thomas Lane left 30 minutes ago, trying to work out where to aim for tonight, has no need to stop in Salida.

Yeah, ...  Alex H, James O and Liam C,  all back together again. Will it be who turns their SpoT off to disguise their next move?

I am at the 2/3rd mark give or take and the main field has yet to arrive.

PS Thomas had Dales Pale Ale, the Steam Engine Third Eye blew just before he got here and he helped move the barrel in! No need for needles etc to rehydrate here.

Now that's what I call a great Aid Station!

EDIT: For the fast ones, do you just stand out front and pass them a mug as they wheel by?  Love the mental image!

it does not seem to work like that. Mike spent the night, admittedly he arrived about 10.30 and probably would have kept going if he had been here a few hours before.

The main difference seems to be the number of hours in the saddle, not how much time they spend here and there. There was a lady who came by last year who seemed to have chatted with everybody she met, but was still doing an excellent time.

It would be in Mike's best interest to finish this morning.  The heat is oppressive down there.

Unbelievable that anyone would text Eric F. that kind of bullshit.  As stated earlier, but maybe not clearly, if I had to get an IV during the race, I'd want an asterisk by my name.  I wouldn't consider it cheating if I were passed out and medical personnel stuck me to revive me and I would hope nobody else on this forum would consider that cheating either.  What he does outside the event is up to him....and getting a saline drip really is small potatoes.  Not the best thing for your kidneys to do that on a regular basis, but you only live once, right?  Lol

Sounds like Katherine Wallace. She may have petted every dog along the way as well. A very fast rider who seems to be able to stay pretty relaxed in difficult conditions, an important skill here.

Now that's what I call a great Aid Station!
But you can't be completely spaced out - when I went through Como myself, I actually managed to miss the ComoDepot even though I had planned to stop.

I can't believe that some asshat texted Eric. Unbelievable. it's one thing to respond when a sponsor bursts into a forum to promote questionable services, but it's something else entirely to text a racer like that. As Matthew has often said, it's better to keep the online world out of the race--which is possible if a racer chooses not to surf the web, but not if some idiot intrudes by texting, calling, etc.

Hopefully Eric will track down the number after the race and expose the jackass.

Eric Foster -- try not to fixate on the negative judgments of a few random lurkers.
Opinions are like assholes, right? Everybody's got one.
It's no big whoop if you are/were experimenting with saline to improve health/recovery/performance.

You're out there in the glorious outdoors having the real experience -- living it -- suffering it --
so stay strong and focused and try to enjoy yourself.
You're an inspiration.

Post 1259, the second picture down is Scott Thigpen. Drew is on a green fixie with a white tire.
Post 1268, the first picture is Drew McIntosh.

I'm following both of these riders pretty loyally. Scott is a good internet friend, and Drew is a hometown boy. They're both on SS. Drew is riding fixie because apparently he's either that brave or that stupid. I dunno, I've not met him, but I did offer to buy him a beer at a local watering hole here in Knoxville when he gets back.
Thanks, I have made the changes...I am sure I mislabeled a few other as well.  Sorry about that.

I basically read through most of what was commented on about me.  Honestly I had good intentions and at the time really didn't see anything wrong with what I did especially since it was prerace and only saline. What bugs me the most is that I'm out here riding my ass off self supported and there are numerous comments from people that are sitting on their couch speculating about what kind of person I am based on one thing. Maybe you should get to know me first?  Unfortunately I heard about this discussion during my ride which has shut me down mentally, so yes most of the comments on here have made me feel like a shitty person, but not all of them.

I also got two text messages yesterday in Rawlins from an unknown number tell me that I should drop out of the race and that I'm a mother fucking cheater.  If being an ass to me makes you feel good about yourself I'm happy for you. An apology on this forum would be nice though. If not that's fine.

You'll be happy to know I am completely dehydrated and drinking water and Gatorade everyday.   I'm hoping I can eventually forget about all this so I can enjoy my time on the divide instead of wondering every mile how many people are judging me on this forum; as if riding alone isn't hard enough.  I may or may not get back on route tomorrow, either way my spot will be off for the rest of my ride, I'm tired of the speculation. I will send my gpx file to matthew lee at the end of the ride.

I don't have anything else to say so don't bother asking me anything, I'm trying to move on and enjoy my ride.  Sorry for any problemsy actions may have caused.  Enjoy tracking everyone else.

No worries, Foster.   A few might be pissed at you, can't please everyone. The majority here see no harm or foul in your choice. That's probably what should matter the most.  Keep on riding your ride, don't let one asshat get to you, and work on having some fun, the rest for you will fall right into place.

Here's hoping. It takes a stunning level of arrogance and self-righteousness to do something like that.

My fav rider ... Prentiss Campbell

Cool dude, matching shoes and shades ... my Dad used to say. "Son, if you can't play the part, make sure you look the part!"

Prentiss is out there doing it both ways! Go Prentiss!!

Prentiss is a great guy. I was fortunate to get to know him last year. A year of experience has made a world of difference. Averaging around 30 miles per day more!!

Here's hoping that Eric will take the high road and not respond. Speaking from experience focusing on the negative has never worked for me!
