Trackleaders lists him as a rookie, but I think he is smart enough to have dropped his helmet in Silver City. No tricky descents before there.

Um, the dude went sans helmet nor hat all of last year.  I think it's just his MO, but I don't know him personally.

On another note ... J. Obrien is up the wrong trail at the head of Spray Lake as of 42mins ago.  Intentional scenic detour?  Possibly has back-tracked by now.

There's a turn in there that catches a few riders napping at the navigational wheel each year.

As you may have noticed, about 5 people's last track points are still in Banff. One of those is my son and another is a friend. Since he's not answering email or txts I can assume that both are really in the race and that they forgot to turn on their SPOT trackers. I hope they figure it out soon!

Spots can be twitchy based on where you mount or carry them.  My wife almost drove to the start of the CTR a few years ago because mine showed no movement for about 6 hours.  I think it was totally user error.

Thank you. I hope that is the case. This is Yet Another Thing To Worry About with my son in the race!

Matt Slater called in from Elkford after a late ITT start from Banff. And ITT racer Bill Peschka called in from Condon to say he’s OUT. He will continue on to Butte.

Monee bags up for auction in a week.  I'll post the ebay link in a week so the auction finished about the time Cjell finishes.

I would consider to buy one if it includes at least one hair of C$, to smell his DNA.

Hold your breath, Justin, they'll be there soon.

MH and CS into and out of Elkford in ~7:20, more than an hour ahead of record pace.  Smokin'.

Here's a link to photo's I took of riders bikes this morning in the YMCA parking lot. I tried to take a bike profile/ front end configuration.
If I missed your bike it's not because I didn't think it was a cool setup. It's a lot of photographs to take in 1/2 hour!

Right you are Scott.

MH and CS are rippin' it up.  What makes it more impressive is there was a major headwind from about 35 km north of Elkford all the way to Sparwood.  They'd have a push to the Corbin turn, but then likely back into headwind when they turn south towards the Flathead.  Doesn't seem to be a problem for them though!

Butt's Cabin is a likely bet. However, they might surprise us and keep going...

Sure enjoying watching those blue dots bounce and move.  I was wondering what happened at the start....thought a few folks must have slept in this morning.  And it does look like conditions are primo - so far that is.  Could be many fast times this year.

Much respect to each one of the riders out there.  Enjoy the adventure!!
