BobM,  I thought the same thing.  I've never been there or ridden that far, but if that gets you through the ride I guess so... Smiley

Don't get me wrong - slamming BEERS I can understand; slamming BEARS in a hot tub sounds damn dangerous.

golden spoke planted

Nice article from Jill Homer about Kirsten @brushmountain:
http://halfpastdone.com/2013/06/14/face-of-a-trail-angel-kirstens-tour-divide-story/

Looks like her wish about the north-south meeting came true.

(Also, P*whipped, that is a crazy photo).

btw...mike left here well over two hours ago...
perhaps it is a spot issue...(?)

What happens if Mike's spot doesn't sort itself out.
Will his times manually get registered at the checkpoints.
I reckon he should be in Steamboat anytime now.

okie dokie, folks...
a little update...

mike was here for an extended refresher...
ate, showered, laundered, and was just about to begin loading out when we realized that cjell wad just up the road....
he stuck around for a quick photo op, (golden spoke planted) and then rolled south...

in the mean time, cjell was here for a refresher as well...showered and laundered and ate and headed north...

they're both looking great...(!)

it is fairly chaotic up here tonight, with a full house of other guests,so i think that Brush Mountain was less respite than usual...nonetheless, it's been a fun evening...

Craig follows shortly...(:

more to come!
photos a little later tonight...

just saying, I totally called the BML photo op

Chris Bennett called in from Lima. Karlos Bernart, the Naked Indian, called in from Butte. He got some work done at The Outdoorsman. Forest Baker called in from near Union Pass. Matthew Liggett called in from Wise River. His knee is doing better. Larry Hipskind called in from Seely Lake. He’s having problems with his Spot.

Sitting on the porch of the Blackfoot Inn in Ovando.  Erick Armentrout just rolled in.

Gotta love this race.  Everyone in it is amazing!

BangHead  Oh crap-I delayed my start until July 15th...

I guess lack of water won't be an issue. Was looking forward to Flathead Valley- now not sure I can even get to Elk Pass. Who makes alternate route decision? Any good rumors? If the Flathead is impassible, the NOBO's will do...what?

Really tho, let's all keep those poor flood victims in mind - riding is way secondary when all is said and done.

And once the Race is over, you won't remember how you made it through, how you managed to survive. You won't even be sure whether the Race is really over. But one thing is certain. When you come out of the Race, you won't be the same person who rode in. That's what the Race is all about.

On the Leadboard section of the Race Tracker, it would be good if you added a line showing the distances to the various checkpoints.
This way we could figure out the location of the towns and if they at the top or bottom of a steep climb.

How long does it take to recover, physically, from a race like this?

For me, about 6 months, but everybody is different.

I would hand off my Spot to mike but it is not activated.he should be here Saturday so to late for fed ex. $160 to get it activated. Wish I was more active. Spot is getting something from this popularity? Gimme some free activation for a week? It's a first generation Spot so more luggage for our rider.

A question for those in the know....

Mike and now Craig have clocked 1600 miles to the 'Golden Spoke' [personally I think 'spike' is a better choice of word] I didn't take particular note of Cjell's milage at that point but working back from where he is having a snooze he would have been on about 1535 miles at that point which = 3135 total miles. That's a good bit more than the alleged 2745 miles on the TD website [and Wiki ... and we know that's the truth!]

that's 1500 miles for him to go, so he did about 1200. Mileage is north to south. Halfway point is north of Rawlins, south of Pinedale.

Roland, you have confused me .....?

If you add the SoBo to the Nobo distance when they meet it should = 2745 miles. My question is why is it looking like it's 3135 miles........

TD Admin would make an "official" decision, but they have stated in the past that if you run into a blockage you should just take the shortest detour possible.

OTOH a washed out road does not necessarily stop a bike.
