Yes, it may be worth a try. It is called Continental Divide Trading Post (575-546-3635 or 505-546-3635 ; the latter number is in the Offical NM CD Trail Guide). The store specializes in tourist curios; bikers only find sodas and small snacks there. There is a car service station next to it, I guess for emergency calls from the interstate, that could do shuttle business.
I question whether people should bother the Trading Post. Shuttling riders is not their calling. They sell souvenirs. I can appreciate the emotion surrounding wanting to help riders escape AW, but recruiting help on this forum / blindly phoning businesses on route to get riders out of AW is slightly antithetical unless we're doing it for everyone. Just sayin'... As has been posted, precious Sam Huges has moved on, but another great option (although I think he's at a wedding this weekend) is Lloyd Payne (and brother) from Lordsburg, NM. They need some notice, please. Edit: Looks like Lloyd just posted his # above. He's watching the tracker, which is a great help. Note: All riders were provided his contact info pre-race.

Matthew thanks for your always reasoned replies. Self-sufficiency means planning for things you know you'll need. Kudos to everyone who finish, and bravo to all who've made a sincere attempt regardless of the result. I'm disappointed for Mike Hall that a course mod altered his amazing display. Regardless- incredible! You already know my story for this year but most don't; I scratched near Lima after a crash and first-ever hospital stay. I'm back home now after my wife drove 19 hours to Butte chasing me down. It will take a while but I'm getting better daily. I just registered here this morning but have watched the site for many years. I'm saddened by the negativity I've seen growing here. It adds no value. The 'true purists' should start their own event if TD isn't good enough. Nothing stopping it. This is just a bike race folks. It's not our whole life. For those interested in how things can go wrong, I humbly offer my blog for my story. I'm nowhere near a newby to ultra-distance events or racing in general, but will attest that sometimes things don't go your way. www.living-fast.blogspot.com is my site. I have more pics to post soon. I will say that my experience out there far exceeded my most positive hopes in terms of the people and challenge. If you are contemplating your own entry, face your fears and go for it. Ignore the negativity- know yourself and live your dream. I'll be back, and next time I'll bring both lungs the whole way...

See that Billy Rice, our favorite YoYo is in Colorado, passing folks like he hasn't don't this already this year. Admiration.

Now a new sensation for those at the back of the pack: getting lapped. Oh, joy!

I had 2 stay last night, Ron and Peter. Ron had issues with his Garmin and obviously was lost without it. Or more correctly felt he would be soon. Still have not found my Camera so a new one is in my future. Can not find my cell phone for that matter either.
Jean Luis stopped for lunch, he liked the food so I will take that as my first Michelin star.

Hey, the first Michelin star you got from me last year, ... as being the first German ever eating completely a complete English breakfast

Peter stayed for almost 24 hours trying to get over the norovirus. I guess it worked because he's been on his way since 10am.

Brian Jett called in from Lander to say he is OUT with an ankle injury. Matthew Liggett called in from Brush Mountain Lodge. Cjell Money called in from outside Whitefish. Eric Foster called in from Silverthorne where he ate everything! Fred Arden called in from Steamboat Springs. And Michael Arenberg called in from Steamboat Springs. http://mtbcast.com/site2/category/td13/

Thanks everyone for the advice and offers, though I notice Lloyd's post has now disappeared which may mean he's not available.
I have no idea whether Jesse has organised a shuttle independently and I am in a bit of a quandary about whether to potentially double up. I worry that Jesse might leave the border and leave another shuttle operator waiting for him... Apologies but I sense that despite best intentions I might be best to leave it. Thank you all again.

Okay, so who is going to show up at Cjell Monee's border arrival party dressed as a bull?

Ozzie Ozzie Ozzie!
(sorry had to do it)
Big shout out to Arran P though, he copped a lot of flack back home for some of his TDR prep rides & gear and has stoicly stuck at it through failure and success. Only (*cough*) New Mexico to go!
Cheers Spoon

So how many more people will Billy pass before the end of the race?? And huge props to Mike Hall for doing the unthinkable! Talk about raising the bar. How many people on the planet could seriously challenge what he has laid down?

Agree Spoon - a great effort for sure from Arran. I reckon a few people will be looking at Mike Hall's approach to luggage and re-thinking what's `necessary' for next year...

Eric Foster called in from Silverthorne where he ate everything! Fred Arden called in from Steamboat Springs. And Michael Arenberg called in from Steamboat Springs. http://mtbcast.com/site2/category/td13/ So he should be hungry by the time he gets here? And thirsty. Sara had a late lunch and took the opportunity to mail some stuff home that was no longer needed. We also had a couple of TD Groupies here this afternoon, one of which intends to have his own spot next year.

Would you rather upset the Germans or the French?

I have just recently learned about the Tour Divide and I've been lurking and following the race since it began. Who knew tracking could be so fun?
Just want to say that I admire ALL the riders that go through with this and congrats to Mike Hall for that insane time. I am aiming to join in on the fun next year...

SUPERSTAR! And considering his specialty event is less than 60 seconds (BMX) all the more impressive. Given the lightning episode he might be finishing the race with a different skin pigment to the one he started in Banff with...
