Does anyone know what happened with the tricycle dude? Did he complete the course?

I just figured that was a joke. Never saw a trike in any of the photos.

I was just thinking of him over the weekend. I saw a older couple riding recumbent trikes on Saturday. I think he was for real, just didn't get his rig together in time.

To me, the only thing worse than riding a trike on the road would be riding one in the dirt. That aside, I thought the dude was legit. If not, he posted one heck of lot for guy just wanting to pull a prank.

Doubt it was a prank, but the gentleman did say he wanted to do the full route, and was ITT'ing it later than the mass start because of passport issues. With the Canadian section literally washed away, that would certainly take the wind out of my sails.
Next year then, DocTrike?
There certainly would have been a different list of pro's/con's to the trike idea, but there's similar lists for other different types of configurations: single/geared sus./rigid Fast and light/heavier and more comfortable - yadda yadda.

I read a blog of a woman riding the whole thing on a trike, not the Canada stuff, a few years back.

It's the second year that he has not shown up. The road to damnation is paved with good intentions.

Hi All,
I've started working on Volume 5 of the Cordillera which will be on the 2013 race. After getting some feedback, I'm proposing to include a section of contribution from 'spectators', in addition to those from the racers themselves. I've been in touch with a few of you who have posted here already, but if there is anyone else who would like to contribute please drop me a note at chris [at] lpcb.org. My goal is to have contributions in by the end of September so I can try and get the book out before US Thanksgiving. Thanks in anticipation for everyone's support.

That road is also heavily paved with preparations and contingency planning. I like Matthew Lee's approach: outfit your bike for a long day trip, add camping gear, and go.

Ralph Yukon Krauss called in from Separ! He’s making the final push to Antelope Wells! I guess he's our Lanterne Rouge! http://mtbcast.com/site2/category/td13/

It looks like "Yukon" has set one course record - the most nights spent in a tent. Forty by his account!

Yukon Krauss at Antelope Wells on July 31, right on the border and with Roger and Lloyd Payne who took him back to Silver City where he intended to buy a VW Bug that he found for sale. He thought it would be a good souvenir. He is a real gentleman. Roger and I were impressed with the quality of people who made the ride. It was a very interesting privilege to get to meet them and hear their views and experiences. The U.S. Customs were kind and cheerful people too. Thanks to them for their good natures and kind help. Thanks, Roger and Lloyd Payne

A late posting of Rick Ashton at the finish line hiding in the weeds from the Mexican Police! My wife remembers him for his soft "Southern Drawl". He rode to Albuquerque with my wife and I and Richard Costello. Both good people!!

Yukon is in -- are there any "stealth" (i.e., non-"spotted") ITT'ers who left Banff before the deluge & resulting destruction who are still on course SoBo? If not, did I miss the leaderboard & winner-take-all results of the Cjell$ La Manga/La Monē Throwdown Challenge?
Perhaps "Bounce" did not make the jump to the Race Discussion thread from the prerace smack-fest thread. I recall from an earlier post that Cjell$ had made good on his end of the "Golden Spoke" challenge Stappy threw down. Some reference to bottle rockets (coinciding with a SoBo/NoBo interaction with Cjell$) in the Basin? ...so many posts, so little short-term memory!
A link to the post, if I missed it, would be most appreciated! If not, the suspense is killing me!

Is that all there is?
Summer is over... is there going to be some sort of summary of results, DQ's, penalties, adjustments whatever? Is there a mushroom club we voyeurs are not privy to?
The TD website has listed results up until 2008. Trackleaders has it's robotic listing of track spots which clearly does not take account of the on the ground realities...... ie; finishing order
Feel free to enlighten me........
