He needs to return to his starting point.  Not sure where he started but think it was somewhere in the Denver area (Mountaineering Center in Golden??).

His feat is just incredible, particularly his dogged determination!  Awe inspiring.

Go, Justin, Go!  Finish this puppy up.

I didn't see anything in his rules write-up but Roy Benton did it as a loop so Justin will too.

Justin's states on his website (http://longranger.justinsimoni.com/tour14er/), though it is not on his "Rules" page:

Travel:
•The Challenger may pick ANY starting point they desire, but must finish their challenge at this same point.
•The Challenger may also pick any starting date/time.
•Suggested starting point: American Mountaineering Center, Golden, CO
•Suggested starting time: Mid July - Mid August

In any event, Justin should finish tonight, though I don't know how long it will take for him to ride to Golden from Long's TH.  Wish I could meet him at the "finish line" in Golden and take him out for a beer.  He deserves it!

Just ran down the bottom couple miles of the Longs Peak trail with Justin. Peter Bakwin caught up to him earlier and was there as well. Man, he was still cranking and high on the finish. His casual and chatty transition at the parking lot was still quite fast, and he hit the road in a light drizzle. He managed to get up and down Longs before the rain started, but he said it was quite slippery and icy going up the trough. A few more hours of pedaling back to golden, and he'll be taking a shower with a beer in hand. Or maybe he'll just jump straight in Clear Creek he said.

Outstanding and a supremely challenging adventure.  Well done Long Ranger!

His orange dot is suspiciously close to Clear Creek. A little swim to finish things off? Smiley

Hey everyone! I have to *still* write a great big thank-you post, but until then, here's some data to play with - I've been crossposting stuff to 14ers.com, which is slightly weird - the following is some .gpx data to play around with - my hope is to entice someone else to take this challenge (in time) - so maybe this will give you a head-start on your own planning!

For the curious, I've downloaded the .gpx's from my eTrex 20, and the various days are cut up into cycling and hiking/slogging on Strava:

http://www.strava.com/athletes/longranger

 - I haven't yet figured out what the distance/elevation gain is for each discipline yet. I can't quite figure out an easy way to do that, so it may be just me and a calculator, with a beer, tonight or tomorrow.

You can play with the entire GPX dump, here:

http://longranger.justinsimoni.com/tour14er/Tour_14er.GPX (32.4 MB!)

A vastly simplified (225 points?) version of the track can be viewed online, here:

http://www.everytrail.com/view_trip.php?trip_id=2971050

Should help your planning for next year Wink

The Bent Gate recently hosted a talk on this trip, I made a flyover in Google Earth to give people a birds-eye view of the route. Here it is!

Said talk was highly entertaining and highly recommended, should such a talk happen again!  The flyover was super cool, too.

It definitely gave Eszter and I renewed dreams of 14er.... ummm, touring?  Then I went and tried to run up the closest "mountain" and had cramping quads before I even got there.  I've got a long ways to go...

Great talk, Justin.
