If we are planning to take the group shuttle, I was curious if you recommend parking our vehicles at the train station for the duration of the ride or is there somewhere else that is safe?

Hi everyone, here are the split versions of the proper course. The tour route should load fine as one file, since it is less than 10,000 points.  Also, don't forget to load up the waypoints gpx file too.

Please load these up sooner rather than later and let me know if they load up ok or if there are any problems.

Free parking in downtown Santa Barbara is as follows.  There is more than this, but these are the streets I park on regularly. Just do not leave any valuables in sight inside your car.  There is Wed. and Thurs. Street sweeping on these streets depending on which side of the street you park. Streets sweeping ends at noon on Thursday on these streets. Just make sure to read the parking signs carefully when you park.

200 and 300 Block West Cota St.

500 and 600 Block of De La Vina St.

600 Block of Bradbury Ave.

700 Block Castillo st.

If you want paid covered parking there is a ton of lots downtown: https://www.santabarbaraca.gov/gov/depts/pw/dtp/default.asp

Can you add 2 to the shuttle?
Me and my buddy finally got our crap together and committed. Let me know if we blew it on the shuttle deadline so we can make alternative arrangements. Thanks and sorry for being a late rsvp.

I sent an email about the shuttle. I think the only 2 people missing from that email are Jeff Phillips and Tony B.

Jeff I do not have your email, so please send me a private message with your email address.

If there is anyone else who wants a shuttle ride and you did not get an email from me, please let me know.

Hi all, I just checked the proper route on my Garmin Etrex 25 touch & saw that I do not have a highlighted single color route visible. The waypoints are there & there are straight lines connecting them but no detailed course to follow.
Anyone have any ideas? Thanks, Aaron

Aaron, this might sound obvious but did you load both the track and the waypoints? They are seperate gpx files.

Anyone else have this issue?

Hi Erin, after loading TDLP 2018 on to base camp in my computer, I sent it to my garmin & checked the  waypoints & route to load. I have erased and reloaded it a few times now & no luck. Is there another step?
Thanks, Aaron

Did you try loading the split versions?  (download the GPX files I posted on this thread on April 6 above)

Recent water report near Painted Rock Campground.  Painted Rock is dry, but water at Montgomery Spring about 1/2 mile from Painted Rock Camp.  Not sure which Montgomery spring (there are 3 of them).  Here is topo map showing where the 3 Montgomery Springs are:

Art and Tony made it to the Brewhouse at the same time last night to share the top spot this year.  Phillip finished shortly after them last night.

Drew and Wes also finished their tour route ITT last night.

Aaron just finished this morning, I believe he is the last finisher, unless there is someone still riding out there who is not on the map.

Congrats to everyone who showed up this year!

Well that was a super fun ride! Got to complete my first overnight ride and meet some nice folks.

Best part = toss up b/w 1) descent down Mt Pinos through the wet snow, 2) finish on the beach.

Worst part = toss up b/w 1) riding up Angostura in the heat, 2) re-entering society after a wonderful respite.

Obviously the best parts way outweighed the worst parts by a long shot!

What a fun route through some beautifully rugged and desolate country. Thanks Erin for setting it up and making a great route.

This was an amazing adventure.  First, Art and Tony are super strong riders and it was great to ride with them.  Always positive, even though I was exhausted.  The route profile is deceiving as there is more climbing than I thought.

Loved the adventure and area.  I will have to plan on the tour route.  I was planning to take the tour route back to frazier park, but my body and mind said no!  So, took the shuttle back and my butt was very happy.

My recommendation:  DO IT!!!!!
