Wonder what's up -- that's quite a bit off course and nearly back in Canada!

Here is a link to view my pictures from the start. I was hoping to get pictures of almost everyone for those at home to see. Hopefully I got most people, although I'm sure I didn't get everyone. Unfortunately I couldn't remember everyone's names, so many of the pictures aren't labeled. Feel free to download any pictures from the album that you want for your own use and let me know if anyone wants a higher resolution picture. http://picasaweb.google.com/marniplesko/TourDivide2009Start?feat=directlink

Wonder what's up -- that's quite a bit off course and nearly back in Canada! Looks like Ray Porter got lost as well. Rumor has it John Nobile got sick and had to rest in Eureka. It appears he's back on the trail and riding up the Whitefish Divide with Jill Homer. Glad to see him back out there.

Thanks for the Pics Marni, I may steal some of them for the 'bubble' pics on the tracker, if you don't mind. Everyone is either a generic bikepacker or SPOT adventures right now.

I just posted the split chart: http://tourdivide.org/leaderboard/2009/splitsThis is similar to the spreadsheet I've maintained in years past for the GDR. Except... this one is automatic! No more fuzzy math for me. It is definitely not accurate down to the minute since the next point beyond a town may be some while after the rider actually made it there. It does give a good picture of where people are and how far behind/ahead, etc. The columns are supposed to sort (click on the town name), but it seems to vary between browsers right now. I'll keep fiddling with it as the race rolls on.

Alright, I'm happy with the split chart now. The sorting works in Firefox and IE for me. Pretty cool to click on the different columns and see the change in order between riders.

Hi all - new to this board, but I have been tracking Jill Homer. Really great tools to track - it's appreciated!
In reading, I noticed that Brunello was off track - and it doesn't seem like there's been any movement for quite some time. Is he just tuckered out from last night's unexpected detour? Any news?

Next TF replay vid:
There are just too many riders out there!! Fortunately the videos will get easier to follow once people spread out more. Matt Lee's lead is quite apparent throughout the video.

Glad you like the tracking system. No news from Brunello and no new points. Many racers have been through, so if he were in trouble there were plenty of people to help. He may just have forgotten to turn his SPOT on, or something innocuous like that.

ScottM,
Is there a way to get my hands on a cue sheet of the new re-route??? Would love to try it out this summer when up there;) Thanks, Rich
I will let you know if I get a copy of it. I'm hoping to get the cue sheets soon.

Kevin Hall got into an accident and is out of the race. I'm sure we'll hear more soon.

Thanks Scott;) I re-traced the route in Google Earth and most of it is fairly visible. Pretty decent satellite detail in that area, but mileage might be off and that might make a difference finding right turns. Cue sheets from someone who rode through the area would definitely be more accurate. OTOH, I checked the routing in the Flathead re-route on Tourdivide website ( http://tourdivide.org/dividenews/td_course_change_09) and it seems that one there is one discrepancy. (It's the red segment between aqua and yellow ones, following the Wigwam river.) Just after sharp left turn onto Wigwam FSR (from Cabin Pass FSR), after about 200-300 yards from the crossing, there is a bridge (the longer one), and the official ("planned") re-route makes a left turn before it and follows through the woods on the left side (Eastern) of the river. All the racers though, based on SPOT trackers, crossed this bridge and followed Wigwam FSR on the right side (Western) of the valley. I was wondering, if it was because of conditions (snow, rough road) or just because the route still isn't finalized? Maybe you might have a take on it... BTW, thanks for all the great work to all of you guys for making the '09 edition easy to follow, either through podcasts, maps, updates, or pictures;) Awesome!!! I will let you know if I get a copy of it. I'm hoping to get the cue sheets soon.

Scott, it is also working fine in Mac OS X Safari. Great job!

Any time a racer has to pull the plug this early after so much training and commitment leaves a hole in the soul . I do hope that he is alright . I remember last year riding with him for a bit when he found out he had a job interview back home and had to stop in Whitefish . Marni great pics from the start thanks .

Scott - awesome work on the leaderboard, split chart and playback!
You might be doing too good a job on these things as it makes TD more fun to watch than a NORBA ever was. You might be figuring out how to bring ultra endurance MTB to the masses for entertainment, and we know that will change everything...
